A Momentous Day

Too often we live for the future, yearning for the next paycheck, weekend, promotion, pay raise, new home, car, mate or child. This causes us to miss the blessings of today. Each moment of every day has an inherent value that we overlook when we focus on the past or the future. What we do with each moment influences what happens tomorrow. So, pay attention to each minute of time in your day, and allow God to live His life through you in it. One lost minute breaks a link in the chain that connects us to the future.

A split second decision may take away everything we worked to gain in our life so far. If the Spirit sends us in one direction and we insist on going in another, that one moment of time may negatively change our whole life. God meets us in the morning with a whole new plan, which is full of divine moments to use for His glory. Only as we surrender each moment to God’s service do we live in the center of His will. We abide in Christ as He leads us through our day, abiding in Him through one divine appointment after another.

Once we start our day in the anointing of God’s Spirit, we set our course for success. He keeps us in His sheltering arms, and uses even the unnerving events in our life to bear good fruit for us and His Kingdom. During a hectic time at work, the Lord keeps us connected to His Spirit. Even if our day turns sour with trials overwhelming us at every turn, each moment is still a divine rendezvous to allow His light to shine through us. Christ who is our life will turn even the most horrendous situation around for our good (Colossians 3:4; Romans 8:28)

Jesus is our daily portion forever (Psalm 16:5). He brings us blessings, as well as financial, spiritual, mental and emotional growth in the midst of our day. If we will reject our own counsel and live by faith in His faithfulness, He blesses our every move. As we obey His direction for the choices we make, we find success and fulfillment (Proverbs 3:5-6). Each day of walking in the Spirit of God increases our ability to walk even closer to God the next day, because trust and surrender get easier with practice.

Each successive day melds into a lifetime of abiding in Christ. God generously gives us our daily portion (Ezra 3:4). As we are faithful in a few areas, we enter the joy of the Lord and He gives us responsibility over more (Matthew 25:23). We daily exchange thoughts and ideas with the Lord through prayer, and we live in wonder as He uses our body, soul and spirit for His glory. Our day does not revolve around earning another dollar, but around our unbroken fellowship with the triune God within us.

Prayer:
Father God, our eternal habitation with You already began the day we repented of our sin and surrendered our life to You (2 Corinthians 6:2). As we occupy our place on the vine, we bear much fruit for the cause of Christ. We may not always feel Your presence, but we know You are always abiding in us. We know that we have Your divine direction to lead us in Your will for each moment of our day.

Thought for the Day:
We reap the blessings of success and fulfillment by completely abiding in Christ though each minute of the day.
