Dreaming Dreams

God used dreams throughout the Biblical accounts of His interaction with mankind (Job 33:15-16; Acts 2:17). He spoke through dreams to kings, prophets and saints of old (Genesis 15:12, 17-18; 28:12, 37:5, 46:2; Daniel 7:1-9; 1 Kings 3:5).

He also used dreams with New Testament characters such as to calm Joseph's fears about marrying Mary and to save Jesus from sure death (Matthew 1:20-21; 2:12-13, 19; Acts 2:17, 16:9-10, 18:9-10). Pilate's wife dreamed that he should not condemn Jesus in spite of the insistence of the Jews (Matthew 27:19).

The Word of God makes it clear that God uses dreams in our life (Joel 2:28-31). He gives us wisdom, insight and guidance to bring a resolution of issues in our life.

In our sleeping state, our soul and spirit are still very active. They are less influenced by our issues, fears and insecurities, which plague us during our waking moments. 

Through dreams, God often reveals to us His character, intentions and lessons that He wants us to learn. 

He will use dreams to give us wisdom on puzzling experiences in our life, peace which transcends human reasoning and direction for some activity He calls us to perform.

Satan and our own soul can inspire dreams as well as God (1 John 4:1). They are often brief and unrealistic (Psalm 126:1; Isaiah 29:8). The interpretation of our dreams will never contradict the Word of God (James 1:5).

Sleep and dreaming restores our soul to equilibrium. If dreams badger us during our sleep, we can ask God to give our soul peace and allow us to enjoy uninterrupted sleep (Psalm 127:2).

As we dream about issues that need resolution, and which we ignore during our waking moments (Ecclesiastes 5:3), God heals our soul. Our spirit sings praises to God as we sleep and we often awaken to our soul singing and making melody in our heart to the Lord.

Prayer:

Father God, thank You for giving us such a fail proof and complex brain that works like a computer as we sleep. It categorizes, files and works through issues which need resolution. Once we are Born Again, Your Spirit who abides in our spirit, will influence this series of chemical impulses and the outcome of this activity in our brain.

We would probably explode or self-destruct with the intensity of our anxiety and other negative emotions if You did not give us the ability to work out these issues in our dreams. You are our great and mighty God; and we can never thank You enough for Your vigilant care over each and every one of us in every facet of our waking and sleeping life.

Thought for the Day:

Dreams are tangible and helpful; they are made of memories, concerns, direction, hopes, vision and reality all rolled into one plot with several sub-plots and they influence the story of the rest of our life.

No One Like Our God

Among all the wise men of every nation and kingdom, throughout all of the ages, there is no one like our God. He is great. Even His name is mighty and powerful. He is King of all nations, and only fools refuse to revere Him. He deserves all of our allegiance and praise (Jeremiah 10:6-7; Romans 1:22). He has plans for those who serve Him. Plans, which give us hope of a prosperous future, and He will never allow anything or anyone to irreparable harm us (Jeremiah 29:11).

Our Lord God made the heavens and the earth by the mighty power of His outstretched arm. Nothing is too complicated for Him to deal with, because He is our great and mighty God. His name is Lord of hosts, and He is mighty in all of His deeds. He gives us great counsel, and He rewards every one of us according to our character and the fruit of our deeds (Jeremiah 32:17-19). When I think about this, I want to follow His Spirit’s direction each moment of my day.

We have hope, because we know His mercy and compassion never fail. They are new every single morning, regardless of our failures from yesterday. He is always faithful. Our soul knows that the Lord is our portion, and we wait for Him. We seek Him and silently hope for His salvation every day (Lamentations 3:21-23). One of these days, everyone on the whole earth will know the glory of our Lord, just as water covers the whole sea (Habakkuk 2:14).

Let us bless the name of our God forever and ever. All wisdom and power belong to Him. He controls both time and the seasons. Kings are raised up and deposed by the will of our Lord. He gives wisdom, knowledge and understanding to whomever humbly asks. In fact, He reveals the deep, hidden mysteries of the ages to those who seek Him. He knows the deeds of those who choose to dwell in darkness, but He continually offers them a place in His Light (Daniel 2:20-22).

Prayer:

Father God, there in no one as Holy as You are. No one compares to You in any way. You are our solid Rock and we trust only in You (1 Samuel 2:2; Psalm 143:8). You will not allow us to be put to shame or for our enemies to triumph over us (Psalm 25:2). We all, both great and small, give praise to You, our God (Revelations 19:5). There is no God as great as You (Psalm 77:13). You rule over all powers and principalities both human and spiritual (Colossians 1:16). You are divine and there is no one like You.

Stay Rich Forever

Get rich quick schemes are so popular in today’s society. Multi-level companies, the lottery, identity theft, scams and even welfare, all rob people from the motivation to work. These people end up in more poverty than they would if they worked for a living and received a steady paycheck (Proverbs 27:24; 28:22). The cares of the world, the lust of the heart, and the deceitfulness of riches choke the Word of God from the life of those who pursue worldly gains (Mark 4:19). Get rich quick, surrender your life to God's will.

It is very hard for a wealthy person to depend on God. Their wealth is a stumbling block, because many of them rely on their human efforts to gain an advantage in this world (Proverbs 28:11; Matthew 19:24). Those who possess worldly riches already received their reward (Luke 6:24). Some rich people even gain their wealth by the sweat of another man’s labors and some even defraud these hard workers of their due. However, these shysters will reap the destitution they impose on others (Jeremiah 17:11; 22:13-19; Proverbs 21:6).

Riches have a way of flying away on wings (Proverbs 23:5). Often the rich find themselves devoid of anything of value, and the poor obtain more lasting riches by far (Proverbs 13:7). When we die, we take nothing with us; and those who trust in material riches gain no eternal value to cherish forever (Psalm 49:16-17). The happiest people on earth are those who have neither riches nor poverty, but receive their needs from the Lord (Proverbs 16:8; 30:8). When we live in the fear of the Lord, we are wealthier than all of the kings of the earth (Proverbs 15:6).

Only the Lord can multiply our wealth, so that it will endure throughout eternity (Deuteronomy 28:1-68). When we buy our gold from the Lord, it is already tested by fire and makes us perpetually rich (Revelation 3:18). In fact, when we give to the poor, we are actually giving to God and storing up treasure for our self in heaven (Proverbs 19:17; Luke 18:22-26). God wants to supply all of our needs. First, we simply seek God and His will for our life, and then He will give us what He wants us to have (Philippians 4:19; Matthew 6:33).

The blessing of the Lord makes us rich indeed, and we have none of the stress and sorrow that accompanies worldly wealth (Proverbs 10:22). When we give to others, God uses that same measure to give back to us (Luke 6:38). Therefore, when we sow sparingly, we reap sparingly (2 Corinthians 9:6). God never forgets what we do in love for one another (Hebrews 6:10). God loves a hand that gives with an open palm instead of those with a hard heart and a tightly closed fist (Deuteronomy 15:7-8; 28:47-48).

Prayer:

Father God, remind us not to trust in riches, because they may be here today, but gone tomorrow (Proverbs 11:28; Zephaniah 1:18). Riches even have a way of causing a person to forget You, and to curse You when they end up in ruin (Proverbs 30:9). We know that in the end of the age, silver and gold will be worthless, people will go hungry and their soul will be bankrupt (Ezekiel 7:19; Jeremiah 48:36; Ecclesiastes 5:14). Give us the humility of the poor rather than the self-centeredness, which often comes with riches (Proverbs 18:23). Your Word reminds us that it is better to live in a loving home than a rich one (Proverbs 15:16-17).
