Healing for Our Wounded Soul

Divorce is so easy and common in this day and time. There is no need to prove grounds for divorce; we just dump our mate as if they are a sack of garbage. We do not see life through their eyes, but only our own. There are personality issues and woundedness in every person’s soul, which may hinder us, or our partner, from changing.

Rather than divorce, we can change our focus about our mate's issues and accept them with love for who they are at this very moment. Satan plants lies in our soul throughout the experiences of our life. These misconceptions cause us to over-react irrationally and with intense emotion in our current life situations.

Once the lie is discovered, we can hear God’s truth about the issue. These problems are resolved through seeking their root and origin, uncovering Satan's lie and then hearing God speak His truth to our soul ( www.theophostic.com ). God's healing will change our behavior for the better as we find freedom in Christ and His Word.

However, before a person finds this freedom, they are often divorced by their mate, which adds to their trauma. Interestingly, the mate who does the divorcing tends to connect with another injured soul with many of the same issues as their former mate. They also take their own unresolved issues from their former marriage into their next relationship.

This is often tragic and ruins their bond with the next person too. Give yourself time to recover from the trauma of your break-up. The more you date, the more sure you will be of finding God’s choice for you. Then, when you find someone with whom you can connect mentally, spiritually, emotionally and physically, make sure it is God's will by allowing Him to continue to heal your wounded soul.

Prayer:

Father God, remind us that our soul longs more for a relationship with You than with a person. We often go from one person to another in this life, trying to find our soul mate, or someone to complete us. Yet, the only way we can feel fulfilled is through deepening our commitment and our relationship with You. This is true even for married people. The more we find acceptance and develop satisfaction in our relationship with You, the more we can serve our mate out of our love for You (Ephesians 5:22, 6:7; Colossians 3:18, 23-24).

Our support and understanding of our partner’s shortcomings will do much to improve our attitude, as well as our mate's feelings of love and acceptance.

A Carnal or Spiritual Life

 

A carnal person is too proud or fearful to trust God. They live by their own efforts and do not want to "bother" God. They live a roller coaster life, stressed out and weary, living a legalistic or an undisciplined life. They only open their Bible on Sunday, if then. When given a choice, they slide into sin, because it is easier than following God's way out (1 Corinthians 10:13).

Carnal people may have prayed for salvation, but they skip one important step...salvation means to repent of sin and to trust in God. They hide their sin and think no one will ever find out (Numbers 32:23). If they do not walk away from their sin and trust God, they are not Christians (1 John 2:3,3:6-9; Ephesians 5:5). They continue to practice sin and have no remorse for it.

The problem with living a carnal life is that we miss out on the abundant blessings of living a spirit-filled life. God loves us and planned every day of our life. He even wrote them down in His book before we were ever born (Ephesians 2:10; Psalm 139:16). Life is so much easier when we live it God's way. His Spirit directs our every move.

We can contrast the carnal lifestyle with that of a Spirit-filled Christian, who lays down carnality of any kind (Ephesians 5:18). They are so completely yielded to the Holy Spirit that He fills their spirit and soul with His presence (Romans 8:9). They believe in Christ and were sealed with the Holy Spirit, who is their guarantee of their inheritance with Christ of God's entire Kingdom (Ephesians 1:13-14).

They may grieve the Holy Spirit by some thought, word or deed, but they repent as soon as the Spirit convicts them; and they do not live a lifestyle of sin (Ephesians 4:30; 1 Thessalonians 5:19). They are true disciples of Christ and they glorify God with every part of their life (John 16:1-15). Due to their dedication, they reap a fulfilled life, overflowing with the fruit of God's Spirit and empowered by Him as well (John 15).

Prayer:

Father God, thank You for sending Your Spirit to rebirth our spirit and to fill our body, soul and spirit for eternity (John 1:12; Colossians 2:9, 10; John 14:16, 17). Remind us that His life flows in and through us and affects everything we think, do and say (John 7:37:39). Help us to glorify Jesus and to live as His disciple throughout our lifetime (John 16:1-15). Prompt us to obey Your Word, so Your Spirit can freely work in and through our life.

No One is God's Equal

 

Our awesome God formed the earth with the power of His Words (Genesis 1). He holds the seas in the hollow of His hand, and He measures the sky with the width of His hand. He knows the number of the grains of sand on the seashore and the dust of the earth. He even calculated the weight of the mountains and hills (Isaiah 40:12-18; Isaiah 46:5).

No one can compare to our awesome God. All of the nations of the earth added together are a mere drop of water in the ocean, and they always do His bidding. He reduces rulers and cares nothing about the decisions made by judges. No one directs God, because He is in control. We are like insects compared to Him.

His throne is above the circle of the earth. He gave us the ozone layer to protect us (Isaiah 40:22-23). No one compares to the Lord or is His equal. He stands above the crowd. He brings out the stars by number and calls each one by name (Isaiah 48:13); and not one of them is missing.

God never grows sleepy or exhausted, and His wisdom is deeper than any human philosopher will ever figure out (Isaiah 40: 25-28). When God acts, no one can reverse it (Isaiah 42:13). All of God's judgments will be proven holy and righteous, once we understand all things (Isaiah 5:16, 8:13). He preserves our life as we devote it to Him.

He is our God and we trust Him as we serve Him each day (Psalm 86:2). God knows the end from the beginning, because He does not dwell in time. His purposes will stand and we serve at His pleasure (Isaiah 46:10). There is nothing that our God cannot do. When we call on Him, He will respond to us and demonstrate to us vast and almighty deeds (Jeremiah 33:3).

Prayer:

Father God, You are the first and the last. You are the only God. You made everything. You even formed us in our mother's womb according to Your perfect plan for our life. You know the number of hairs on our head (Isaiah 44:24; Isaiah 48:12). Apart from You there is no other God. You are the Lord and there is no other (Isaiah 45:5-6).

Scattered Leaves

Last week, I watched my neighbor rake the scattered leaves into mounds around his yard and then bag them. The next morning a new carpet of leaves coated his grass. Enthusiastically, he cleared the yard again. Yet, the following morning the same sight greeted my eyes with the dawning light!

I do not know how he had the joy and energy to repeat this process for an entire fall. I get tired of dealing with life's little repetitive problems, especially when the same problems persist endlessly. I do not mind the new challenges, which I face with the dawn of each morning; but the petty, mindless issues wear my patience thin!

We often put our self in situations outside of the will of God for our life. We rush headlong into the circumstance without one prayer. At other times, God Himself sends scattered trials, to remind us to depend on Him. Once the situation resolves, we often realize that the trials were seeds for a miracle, which worked out for our good (Romans 8:28).

Hindsight teaches us that many, various experiences are a needful part of God’s plan and purpose for our life. God also teaches us patience, which He uses to perfect us (James 1:4). In the midst of our complaining, the Lord reminds us that we shall reap, if we do not get weary while we do good in His name and by His Spirit's direction.

Prayer:

Father God, remind us that if we were to stop “raking” the “yard”, which You give us, the new “green sprouts” beneath the “leaves” would die and fail to germinate in the “spring.” The "leaves" of circumstances would hinder the new growth in our spirit and soul from sprouting and reaching the life-giving Son they need for nourishment.

         Lord, if we continue to trust You through the mundane issues we face each and every day, we will eventually see the fruit of our labors. Then, when we reach eternity we will hear You say, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”

Life flows more smoothly when we give thanks to God in everything, because we serve at our King's pleasure.

Unity with God's Trinity

God already knows when the world as we know it will end, and our time is in His hands (Is 46:10; Ps 31:15). He is eternal with no beginning or end. As Believers and followers of Christ, we start to see life from an eternal rather than an earthly perspective. We do not regret the past or fear the future. We live in the here and now in the precious arms of God (John 5:25).

We walk in His light, just as He is in the light (1 John 1:7). There is no lack in our life, because He supplies all of our needs according to His glorious riches (Philippians 4:19). Our old nature molts away, layer after layer with each new season of Biblical revelation. We walk in the truth that it is no longer I, but Jesus Christ who lives in and through us (Galatians 2:20).

As the hectic pace of life increases, we need more alone (all-one) times with our Lord and Christ. We schedule times of the week as a priority to spend with God. We may not have an entire day, but we can find several hours where we rest and breathe in His presence (Psalm 46:10). The Spirit will open up opportunities for us if we will watch for them.

After hearing from God in our quiet place, there is no need to strive to walk in the Spirit. We are used to hearing His voice and He loves to commune with us. As we delight in the Lord, He puts His desires in our heart (Psalm 37:4). He works out His will in us for His glory. God's Spirit controls our thoughts, words and deeds more and more often.

Intimate communication with God will nurture peace in our soul. If we make the time and effort to be still before the Lord, His strength infuses our spirit (Psalm 46:10). We have no need to fear, even if our whole world turns upside down (Habakkuk 3:17-19). Jesus Christ becomes for us our refuge and our tower of strength to help in any time of trouble (Psalm 46:1-3).

Prayer:

Father God, remind us to allow You to crucify our flesh so that we can walk in unity with Your Trinity. You commune with us, not in a loud oppressive voice, but in Your still, small voice that confidently tells us which way to go. As we follow Your directives, we end up walking in Your Spirit to accomplish Your will on the earth, rather than living to fulfill the lust of the old, dying fleshly human nature (Galatians 5:16-25).

Thought for the Day:

Even while playing Scrabble I learn to discern the voice of God as I obey that still, small nudge to form letters into words that I do not even know; and this carries over into every day life as I read His Word and follow His direction throughout the day.

God's End Time Purposes

 God views the past, present and future as one event. He knew man's penchant for depravity and our eventual need for Jesus as our Savior. He crafted His end time plan prior to establishing the earth. He dwells in eternity and is not restricted by time as we are. He had a major plan for humanity and it has now almost entirely unfolded.

The anti-Christ's rise to power may be happening as I type. However, God will remove His Saints from the earth before the anti-Christ is ever revealed (1 Thessalonians 5:9). God will judge our works and reward us at the Judgment Seat of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:10). We will be dressed in our wedding garments, which are made from our righteous works for God, while we are alive on this earth (Revelation 19:8).

Then we will have a wedding feast with Jesus in Heaven (Revelation 19:7-9). At this same time, the torment of the Great Tribulation is taking place on the earth. Jesus opens the seal, trumpet and bowl judgments, which bring devastation and destroys the corrupted earth and the people on it (Matthew 24:4-31; Revelation 6-19).

During the Great Tribulation, the two Jewish witnesses will preach in Jerusalem while 12,000 from each of the Jewish tribes will go out through the earth to win the lost Jews to Christ. God will save those in Israel who choose to believe, and these Saints will give their lives in martyrdom. At the end of the seven-year Great Tribulation, Jesus will return to the earth.

This is called The Second Coming of Christ (Revelation 19:11-21). We, His Bride, are coming with Christ in our immortal, glorified bodies at this same time. The Word of the Lord defeats all the armies of the world assembled by the Anti-Christ at the "Battle of Armageddon" (Revelation 19:11-21). Then He will lock up Satan with all of his demons in the lake of fire. We will rule and reign with Jesus during the Millennium (Revelation 20:3).

Prayer:

Father God, You never send judgment without first sending warning. Noah believed Your counsel about his time's coming Day of Judgment and he built the Ark. He preached Your plan for 120 years. He and his family heeded Your forewarning and were saved from Your wrath (Luke 17:26; Hebrews 11:7), while everyone else perished. As it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the end times (Matthew 24:37). Thank You for saving us, and making us part of your eternal plan. Please, draw our loved ones, who do not believe, to come to Your loving heart now, before it is too late.

Thought for the Day:

God has not yet poured out judgment on evil, because He has been storing up the cup of His fury since the sin of Adam and Eve; He will dispense it during the Great Tribulation. - Revelation 14:10

Intercessory Prayer

There is nothing as sweet as time alone (all-one) with God, a time of separation from the world and spiritual renewal, a time of grace, mercy and unity with both Christ within us and our Father on His throne. Jesus is our intercessor, constantly serving as our advocate with our Father. He suffered the torture and agony of the Cross to provide for our earthly liberation and our eternal glory (1 John 2:1).

The Holy Spirit also intercedes for us, often with utterances, which we do not understand (Romans 8:6). We are the temple of God's Spirit, and He dwells within us and sanctifies us over the course of our lifetime (2 Corinthians 3:18). He slowly crucifies the old nature in us as we cooperate with Him, by starving the little fellow to death at the same time that we feed our spirit with spiritual food (Ephesians 4:24; Romans 6:6).

God's Word is an infinite source of wisdom and practical advice, especially the Psalms and Proverbs. Reading them daily can improve the way we handle and react to life. God's Word is a lamp and light for our life (Psalm 119:105). Praying God's Word allows us to identify with the prophets and psalmists as they interceded for themselves and their world. 

During our times of oneness with God, He gives us His heart for the world (John 3:16). When we feel the torment of others, we can join Christ in interceding for that person or people group. Intercessory prayer facilitates our unity with God. We identify with God's heart and learn to despise what He disdains and embrace what He holds dear, as we spend time mediating for others through prayer.

Prayer:

Father God, You make us aware of the spiritual warfare, in which we engage with each prayer we breathe. By Your Spirit, we put to flight tens of thousands of demonic predators, which roam the earth, seeking people to oppress or possess (1 Peter 5:8; Mark 3:15). The more intimate our unity with You, the more authority You give us over the demonic forces we battle through intercessory prayer.

Thought for the Day:

The pain of those we pray for becomes so real to us that it is almost as if we are pleading for our self as we pray for others.
