Time with the Lord

I hear people say, "We need to find time during the day to spend with the Lord." However, I totally disagree with that. God deserves our attention and praise more than once a day.

Satan wants us to give God a fraction of our time; so that he can command the rest of our day. He makes us believe that once we do our duty in giving God a token of our life, which we think is His due, then we can control the rest of our day and night.

We believe that if we pray in the morning and before going to bed, as well as when we face a concern, worry or trauma, then we gave God what He expects. However, we miss the guidance of God's Spirit, and this gives the devil room to kill, steal and destroy (John 10:10).

God's Word advises us to give thanks to God, to rejoice regardless of our circumstances, and to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18); not necessarily on our knees, but to converse with God each moment of our day.

As we focus on God through every task He plans for us during our service in our home, vocation and outreach into our community, we put social media, phone messages and texts as secondary to hearing from God.

When we consult God in every minute of our time, our day is full of divine appointments and ministry opportunities. His voice is in the forefront of our mind, and the cacophony of life cannot push it to the background or minimize its effectiveness in our life.

We use our own voice and personality in our prayers - no fake attitude or wordy prose. We can even pray Bible verses that pertain to our circumstances, as we meditate all day long on His Word. God hears our prayers regardless of the way or place that we pray.

As we go about the tasks and duties of our day, we make our requests with gratitude, and live in praise while we seek His will for everything we say and do. We chat with our Heavenly Father about every thought and emotion, as we live out His perfect plans (Ephesians 2:10).

Prayer:
Father God, we do not want busyness to become our enemy, preventing us from a day of resting in Your will (Hebrews 4:10). Our unity with You deepens as we converse with You all day long. Remind us to listen (Matthew 6:7), as well as to speak; and to spend time with You in companionable silence as we obey Your will for each moment of our time. We enjoy Your presence in our day and night, and we give You praise for the myriad of blessings that You pour out on us all day long.

Please put people on our heart that need our immediate prayers, remind us of world events for which we can intercede, highlight strangers in the crowd or those in the persecuted church that need our prayers, teach us to use our drive time for prayer and praise (James 5:13), and make us aware of those around us that are in need of Your help through us. We seek Your counsel for every task You lead us to perform all day long (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Thought for the Day:
With Christ abiding within us, we are privileged to commune with Him all day and night long, and to consult Him for His perfect will during every moment of time; that way He no longer needs to fix our mistakes, but we walk lock-step with Him all along life's way.
