Due
to our personality type, and/or wounds from our past, many people feel the need
to control life in order to keep safe in this unpredictable world of ours. It
would be easier to put the toothpaste back in the tube than to control life.
Yet,
we still want to make our own schedule according to our own priorities,
responsibilities, and the expectations that often threaten to overwhelm us. However,
walking in the center of God's will and cooperating with His plans is much
safer.
We
lay down our idols of success, fame, financial security, fitness, health,
hobbies, goals and ideals at Jesus feet where they belong. Then, He guides us
in His will. We find security and success where we least expect it, and we find
all of our needs abundantly fulfilled.
We
make no demands of God, we do not quote scripture at Him as if we are in charge,
and we do not treat Him like our Aladdin's lamp. We simply trust in Him with
our whole heart, and do not depend on our finite human reasoning and
understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6).
God
knew us before He even knitted us together in our mother's womb (Psalm 139:13).
He also knows the day of our death and everything in between (Job 14:5).
Therefore, it just makes sense to trust Him with each step we take, as we
follow His plans instead of our own.
When
we listen to His Holy Spirit before we ever get out of bed, we accomplish our
duties as He directs us to do them. This assures that we will accomplish more
in less time than usual; and we do all things well, as we bear fruit for His
Kingdom along the way.
God's
unconditional love bathes us with blessings, peace and joy throughout our day.
He gives us His wisdom to accomplish His plans without the limited bias of our
impression of reality. We walk in faith in His faithfulness, and we look for
the seed for a miracle, which He plants in every trial.
Prayer:
Father
God, Your grace and presence in our life are the two most treasured possessions
we obtain in this world. They transform our life, give us courage in trials,
and supernaturally provide every item that we need to achieve Your will for our
life. You even give us the victory over sin and death through the finished work
of Jesus on the cross (1 Corinthians 15:56-57).
The
transitions of life are no longer daunting obstacles that mess up our plans,
because we are trusting in Your will as we wait on Your timing and direction
(Proverbs 3:5-6). We rest in the shadow of Your wings (Psalm 91:1-4), and we
walk in Your Spirit each moment of the day as we enjoy Your protection,
provision and plans for our life.
Thought
for the Day:
Sin
separates us from God, so we choose life and enjoy it more abundantly by
walking in the Spirit and making God's will our priority each moment of the
day.
