The Blood of Jesus

The law of God requires a blood sacrifice to pay for our forgiveness for our sins (Hebrews 9:22). This is due to the animals He had to sacrifice, in order to physically clothe Adam and Eve from the consequences of their disobedience (Leviticus 17:11).

As the perfect Lamb of God, the blood of Jesus purifies us, allows us to walk in His light, and to have fellowship with God and with one another (1 John 1:7). I am intrigued by the fact that the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:6-9).

That includes issues from our past, our current life, and future events and failings. Jesus makes peace through His blood and reconciles all things to Himself (Colossians 1:20; Luke 22:20; Matthew 26:28). Due to His grace, God buys back the penalty of our sins, and cleanses and forgives them through the blood of Jesus (Ephesians 1:7).

By His blood, our conscience is cleansed from our deeds that at one time led to our eternal damnation to hell; now we are free to serve our living God (Hebrews 9:14). We can also freely enter the presence of God in the Most Holy Place, because of Jesus' sacrifice (Hebrews 10:19, 13:12).

We triumph over sin by the blood of the Lamb, as well as by the words of our testimony of what God did, does and continues to do in our life (Revelation 12:11). We are redeemed from sin by His blood and saved by Jesus from God’s righteous wrath (Romans 5:9).

Although God blesses us due to the faithfulness of our parents and ancestors (Exodus 20:6), their good works cannot redeem us from an empty life (1 Peter 1:18-19). God has no grandchildren, only adopted sons and daughters. Jesus is our only sacrifice of atonement for our sins (Romans 3:24-25).

Prayer:
Father God, You are not pleased with burnt offerings and sacrifices (Psalm 51:16). They were simply a shadow of what was to come when Jesus, as our ultimate sacrifice, paid for us the penalty of our sins (Hebrews 10:6-9). Jesus, as our bread from Heaven, will sustain us throughout our lifetime and even in all of eternity (John 6:55-59; 1 Corinthians 11:24-30). Once we personally receive Christ’s finished work on Calvary’s cross by faith, God’s grace freely justifies us through our redemption through Christ.

You heal us, and we are healed; You save us, and we are eternally saved. We give to You all of our praise (Jeremiah 17:14). As You taught us, we call for the elders of the church to anoint us with oil and to pray for us when we are sick. You raise us up and forgive us of all of our sins (James 5:14-15). We worship You and receive Your many blessings throughout our lifetime (Exodus 23:25).

Thought for the Day:
If we listen carefully to the directives from the Lord, our God, and do only that which is right in His eyes, pay attention to His commands, and walk in His decrees, we receive God’s abundant blessings on our life, including the health of our body, soul and spirit. – Exodus 15:26; Proverbs 3:5-6
