Father of Lies

One aspect of satanic activity that most Believers do not realize is that Satan is the “Father of Lies” (John 8:44). Have you ever had a thought flit through your mind that sounded so real that you grabbed onto it, and clung to it as truth? These lies reverberate in our soul and cripple our walk with the Lord.

Then, you found out days, weeks, months or even years later, that you made an assumption and actually believed a lie straight from the pit of hell. Satan uses lies, whispered in our mind, to move us in the direction that he knows will steal our dreams, kill our relationships, and destroy our chances to live a victorious life.

He makes us believe that these thoughts are real and true. He is not some toothless lion; he is a formidable foe who wages spiritual warfare against us. However, we are not powerless against his wiles, and we are not victims of his devices, because greater is Christ in us, than Satan and his forces that are in the world (1 John 4:4).

Our flesh is the only aspect that offers him hope of rendering us ineffective. If we walk according to our human understanding and desires, we may be tempted to follow his lead, but if we walk in the Spirit of God, we have no interest in sin. We are free, because Christ in us frees us indeed (John 8:36).

Sin loses its power over us, and we no longer live for our self, but we are completely consumed by the Spirit of Christ within us (Colossians 3:3-4). God’s Spirit is our comforter, our counselor, our ever-present help in every time of need. Jesus said that he had to leave this earth, so the Comforter could come to us (Psalm 46:1; John 16:7).

God’s Spirit unites us as one body with Jesus as the head of the whole Body. As we sit alone in a quiet place, or pause for a moment between chores, we can listen to His directive for each moment of our day and walk in the center of God’s will for us – the happiest place on earth.

Prayer:

Father God, thank You for Jesus’ victory on Calvary’s cross that gives us the upper hand in spiritual warfare against the devil and his demonic forces in the spiritual realm (1 Peter 5:8). Help us not to fall to his convincing lies like Adam and Eve did in the Garden of Eden – the Paradise that You provided for us, and that was Your initial intent for our dwelling place with You.

Remind us that we have nothing to fear in this world, unless we fail to walk in the Spirit, and instead walk in the flesh (Galatians 5:15-25). Then we are at risk of falling into the snare of the demonic fowler (Psalm 91:3-5). Otherwise, we are more than conquerors because of the love of Your Trinity for us (Romans 8:37; 1 John 3:16; 1 Corinthians 15:57). You treat us like Your priceless treasures, and we continually rejoice in You (Deuteronomy 14:2).

Thought for the Day:

As we stand on His Word and reject satanic lies that infiltrate our mind and compete with the leading of God’s Spirit each moment of our day, God’s Spirit empowers us and gives us wisdom to accomplish everything that He calls us to do; He helps us to laugh in the face of the trials of today and the fear of all of our tomorrows.
