Momentary Reflections

Shallow Focus Photography of Purple Flowers

I like to pay attention to what I eat and drink (Colossians 3:17; 1 Corinthians 10:31). I have fewer negative side effects then when I ingest processed food and drinks. This also helps me to rid my diet of inflammatory chemicals and nutrients.

Food affects our body, emotions, attitude, mental clarity, spiritual holiness, and energy level; therefore, cleaning up our food choices gives us better all-around health. Our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, and He abides within us.

Our body does not belong to us, because God bought us with the great price of His son’s suffering and death. Therefore, we use every part of our body, soul and spirit to give glory back to God. We consider everything that we do, think, and say, because it all affects our testimony for the Lord.

It will also affect how we look, which will affect how we feel about our self, and ultimately how we obey the Lord and how fulfilled we feel with our life. Our attitude about life and in life makes all the difference in the world (Philippians 4:8).

Gratitude molds us into a positive person. With a positive and grateful attitude, we do everything, even the most mundane things, for God’s glory (Philippians 4:8). Living in the present moment brings many positive results. We notice all the little blessings God provides for us throughout the day, which we normally overlook.

This allows us to live a life of praise as we thank Him for His gifts as they occur. When we start to praise God for the things that most people take for granted, life holds more joy for us. Fulfillment in this life has as much to do with our body as it does with our soul and our spirit.

When we complain, we put negative vibes into the air all around us, and it affects everyone we meet. Living in the present moment and showing gratitude for all the blessings God bestows on us all day long puts us in a positive mood instead.

Prayer:

Father God, why we refuse to continually dwell in the inner sanctum with You, I do not know. As we abide in You moment by moment, any pruning away of our dead attitudes, habits, and thought processes results in more fruitfulness in our life - all for Your glory (John 15:5,8).

Remind us that we can keep a journal of all the blessings that You provide for us each moment of every day. Then when we have negative experiences, we can encourage our self by reading our journal of blessings. This reminds us that You are our good, good Father, and we are continually blessed by Your kindness and generosity.

Thought for the Day:

We do not always understand why we go through storms in life, but that is the reason that perseverance is called faith; and the wondrous thing about faith is that we do not have to understand why - it just is; God always works out every aspect of our life for our eventual good, even if we never understand His reasons for our journey.
