Peace We Cannot Comprehend

Palm Trees Near Body Of Water

Peace is what most humans lack, but wish they had more of in their life. Work, children, physical ailments, busy schedule, agreeing to take on too many “jobs” at one time, etc. can all rob us of our peace. That is why being led by God’s Spirit is the best way to walk in continual peace.

Peace affects our spirit, body and soul – our thoughts, actions, attitude, and emotions. Peace radiates from us when we walk in it, and other people notice it and get curious. Some people will even ask us about our countenance or attitude, which gives us a chance to witness to them about God’s intervention in our life.

Peace follows spiritual rest in the Lord. Stress is eliminated, and negative emotions are easily analyzed, solved and purged. Peace comes when we learn to trust in the Lord with our whole heart and mind. We develop spiritual convictions and beliefs, and we live by them without compromise.

When we prayerfully investigate the reason for our lack of peace, God always shows us where we are failing to have faith in His faithfulness; and where we are attempting to control life, rather than having trust in His eternal control over all things (Matthew 11:29).

God always has only our ultimate good in His mind, even in the most heart-rending or physically painful situations that we experience (Romans 8:28). He hides us under the shelter of His wings through every storm that we ever encounter (Psalm 91). The presence of the Trinity within us gives us comfort each moment of every day.

Intimacy with His presence within us gives us peace that nothing in this world can ever produce for us (John 14:27-31). Through our repentance and surrender to Christ, we form a union, a bond with the Godhead, that is indestructible and eternal; then, we practice totally trusting in God each moment of every day.

Prayer:

Father God, remind us to flee to Your side when we grow weary from the burdens of life. Helps us to lay down our human pride and to humble our self under Your mighty hand as we trust in Your goodness. Teach us how to continually yoke up with You, so that You can carry our heavy burdens with us. This will help us to enter into Your rest for our soul (Matthew 11:29). Your Spirit transforms our human mind with the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16).

Your peace always comes into our soul like a flood when we stop relying on our self, and trust that You have everything in Your bountiful control. Help us to lay our expectations, goals, worldview and desires at Your feet, so we will never be disappointed or discontent. We want to seek more of You, and less of this world’s trappings that often sidetrack us, because a union with You can never be taken away from us (Romans 8:35-39).

Though for the Day:

When we seek worldly fame, fortune, or success we forfeit the type of peace that God gives, which is different and so much more fulfilling than anything this world can offer us; humility and finding rest in the Lord are the key ingredients to finding ultimate, eternal, everlasting peace.
