The brain is the most complex part of the human anatomy. It
controls everything in both our body and soul – our mind, choices and emotions.
The subconscious, as well as the conscious part of our brain provide a
multifaceted entity for reflection, contemplation, expression and observation.
What we think affects how we feel, which influences our decisions in life. The
brain is the target for satanic assaults on our spirit as well. In fact, the
mind set on sin and the flesh is hostile toward the things of God, because it
does not submit to God (Romans 8:7).
Only a fool utters his whole mind (Proverbs 29:11). The only way to
prevent Satan from having a party with our feelings is to submit them to God
and to resist all of the negative thoughts Satan whispers in our mind. Then, he
is required to flee from us (James 4:7). Paul gave us the best advice when he suggested that
we contemplate only on thoughts that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely,
virtuous, praiseworthy and of a good report (Philippians 4:8). God keeps us in perfect
peace once we focus our thoughts on Him and trust in His faithfulness (Isaiah 26:3).
A mind set on earthly things glories in shameful deeds and
focuses on carnal desires as our god (Romans 7:23; Romans 1:28). The end
of this type of mindset is destruction (Philippians 3:19). Having
our mind and behavior conformed to the aspirations of this world is a dead end
street. Only repentance, a change of mind and heart, will remedy this situation
in our life. To succeed, we allow God’s Spirit to transform our thoughts to
align with the will of God (Romans 12:2). Then, we serve God with a
willing heart and with the mind of Christ (1 Chronicles 28:9; 1 Corinthians
2:16).
God’s Spirit renews the spirit of our mind as we bathe it
with God’s Word and follow His Spirit’s direction throughout the day. He also
enables the Body of Christ to live in agreement, even if we differ doctrinally
or theologically in a few areas. As long as we agree on the essentials of our
faith we have fellowship:
·
We worship the one true God (Isaiah 43:10; 44:6, 8; John 17:3; 1 Corinthians 8:5-6; Galatians 4:8-9).
·
Jesus Christ was born of a virgin (Matthew 1:18-25).
·
Jesus Christ was fully God as He
was also fully man (Colossians 2:9; 1 Timothy 2:5; Hebrews 4:15; 2 Corinthians
5:21).
·
Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, was buried,
rose again from the dead, ascended back to heaven, and will one day return to
this earth again (John 14:1-3; Colossians 1:22; Matthew 27:59-60, 8:6; Mark
16:19; Revelation 1:7
·
Salvation is in none other than Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12,
10:43; 1 Timothy 2:5).
·
The Bible is the
"inspired" or "God-breathed" Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16; 2
Peter 1:21).
·
Jesus is coming again to set up His Kingdom in the earth
(Acts 1:11).
Prayer:
Father God, we desire nothing less than to serve You with
all of our heart, soul, mind and strength (Mark 12:30; Matthew 22:37). When we
recall Your perfect precepts and promises, we rejoice in hope (Romans
5:2). Thank You for depositing Your Spirit and divine nature within us, so
that we may live peaceable lives on this earth as Your Body, living faithfully
to Your calling for each of us until You call us home (Romans
12:18). We look forward to Your return to the earth, when You
will set up Your Kingdom without end (Luke 1:33).
Thought for the
Day:
A sinful mind
produces death, but a mind controlled by the Spirit of God is life and peace. –
