Our perfect, Heavenly Father not only comforts us as we comfort our own
children, He comforts us with His supernatural strength and wisdom, regardless
of the cause of our distress.
We give compassion, sympathy and heart-felt love to those around us who are
suffering their share of grief; but God gives supernatural strength and power,
infused into our soul to help us to traverse the issues of life (Matthew 5:4;
Psalm 138:3).
God is not distantly aware of our circumstances, He is right there within
us, experiencing each instance with us.
We often use our relaionship with God to explain our inordinant behavior
done in our flesh, and we say that we do it in the name of Christ. Yet, Jesus
has no part in these goals and ministry, which we do in His name, but in the
flesh.
In fact, we often bring shame on His name and on our own testimony by our
interpretation of His calling on our life. God calls us to trust in Him with
our whole heart, not to lean on our human understanding, and to consult Him
before we do anything during our day; so that He can direct our steps each
moment of the day (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Our Father has exceedingly great riches, which He liberally shares with
those who love Him and those who completely trust in Him; He strengthens our
inner core with His Spirit; and He roots us and stabilizes us with His Spirit
as Christ dwells in our heart by faith (Ephesians 2:7).
We learn that God's love surrounds us on every side of our breadth, length,
depth and height, because His love transcends human understanding; and He fills
us with all of His fullness (Ephesians 3:16-19, Amplified Bible).
Prayer:
Father God, show us the areas of
our life where we continue to work "for" You rather than
"with" You - areas where we are led by our human reasoning rather
than by Your Spirit within us. Cause us to know the way in which we should walk
as we lift up our body, soul and spirit to You (Psalm 143:8).
Help us to stop attempting to
earn our own salvation, or to sanctify our own soul, or to be a Savior to the
world. Jesus already fulfilled that job and did it well without us. Show us
Your prerequisite will for our life and help us to walk in it, rather than in
our own devices (Ephesians 2:10).
Thought for the Day:
God's way is infinitely better
than any plan which we can conceive through our own human devices.
