People think that sin is more fun
and easier than obedience. They think that they are happy in their sin, but
they do not realize that sin always has negative consequences and leads to
eventual damnation (Romans 3:23, 6:23).
Conversely, obedience brings us
ultimate peace, joy - which is greater and deeper than happiness, and leads to
a lifetime of blessing from the Lord.
When we realize that our human
wisdom is faulty at best, we start consulting the Lord before any activity, and
we walk in His Spirit. He gives us success in our obedience (Proverbs 3:5-6).
God already has a plan for our
life (Ephesians 2:10). As we consult Him each moment of the day, we find
fulfillment like we never experienced in our sin.
God does not condemn us, but we
do condemn our self through our unbelief, disobedience and wild living (Peter
1:14; John 3:18). Our relationship with the Trinity changes our outlook,
ideals, choices, thoughts, words and deeds.
God's Spirit sanctifies our soul
until we are a totally new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). He gives us the mind
of Christ and fills us with His spiritual fruit (1 Corinthians 2:16; Galatians 5:22-23).
The things of this world, which
are passing away, no longer hold any temptation for us. We realize that we are
better off without them. God supplies all of our needs according to His
glorious riches (Philippians 4:19).
Prayer:
Father God, thank You for saving
us in spirit, sanctifying our soul and eventually glorifying our body with an
immortal body that will serve You into eternity. While we exist on this earth,
help us to slow down, simplify our life, and allow You to work out Your
salvation in us all the days of our life (Philippians 2:12-13). Guide us into
spiritual maturity so that no temptation in this world will draw us away from
You.
We believe You and Your Word, but
we implore you to redirect our thinking in our times of unbelief. We no longer
want to trust in our human resources; but instead, in Your Spirit within us. We
thirst for You like a deer pants after the water brook (Psalm 42:1). Teach us
to desire nothing in this life that You did not preordain for us to have
(Ephesians 2:10).
Thought for the Day:
God teaches us His way, helps us
to exhibit faith in His faithfulness and makes us single-minded in our
thoughts, words and deeds as we follow in Jesus' footsteps.
