Working for God

We are taught at a young age that good people go to heaven and bad people go to hell. This is not true. People who trust in Jesus as our Savior go to heaven (John 3:16-17).

Those who reject Christ, or who half-heartedly make a decision to follow Him but are not truly converted, go to hell (John 3:18; Matthew 25:1-13). The emphasis in the Christian walk is on our obedience to God's Spirit, not on our human efforts.

When we attempt to walk in God's will from the position of our own talents and abilities, we easily get burned out, discouraged and quit serving Him all together.

While we make our own plans to serve God, we hinder His efforts to work out His will in, through and for us. We do good things that are notable and worthy of commendation, but we get the glory, not God.

God's Word encourages us to enter His rest and to cease from our own labors (Hebrews 4:10-11). God calls us to serve Him from this position of rest in Him, not from our harried endeavors to please Him and earn His love.

Then, our spirit, soul and body are available to pray, listen to His Spirit's guidance during each moment of the day, and walk in the very center of God's will for us.

Our spirit, soul and body are available to pray, listen to His Spirit's guidance during each moment of the day, and walk in the very center of God's will for us.

Prayer:
Father God, the spiritual world is intangible and invisible to us, but Your love and truth flow generously from Your Spirit to our spirit. We are connect to You though our total surrender to Your and by our belief in Your only begotten Son, Jesus Christ.

When we live with a body, soul and spirit balanced by Your Spirit, we successfully navigate through life. We realize that we are simply the container into which and from which You pour out Your love, peace and joy on everyone around us. Remind us not to make our own plans, but to consult with You every moment of our day (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Thought for the Day:
We love God with our whole heart, mind and strength by the power of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 22:37); we willfully surrender to His direction for each moment of our life; and we do not rely on or trust in our own human thoughts, desires and plans.
