God's Principles - Part Two - Emotional Health

The Word of God is full of advice on how to live a healthy life mentally, emotionally, financially, physically and spiritually (3 John 1:2). If we ferret them out of the chapters and verses, we find amazing truth by which to live our life (Proverbs 4:22).

Emotional pain is no fun. Emotions drive our thoughts, motives, attitudes, viewpoint, and decisions. We make all sorts of mistakes when we allow our emotions to dictate our behavior. Thankfully, the Lord draws near to those who have been broken and are humbled (Psalm 34:18).

Even though we suffer on this earth, our gracious God lessens the amount of time of our distress. He gives us eternal wonder as we watch him repair our soul - our thoughts, emotions and choices - endorse our calling, fortify our spirit, and launch us into a new aspect of His service (1 Peter 5:10).

There is no need for us to succumb to discouragement. Although our body wears out a bit more each year, our spirit is renewed day by day. The light, temporary afflictions we suffer in this life produces patience in us, which awards us with His eternal glory
(2 Corinthians 4:16-18).

God heals our mental, emotional and physical pain from our past traumas, at the same time that He brushes away our current tears, and binds the wounds in our body, thoughts and emotions (Psalm 147:3; Revelation 21:4). This helps us to make better choices with our life.

As we wait on the Lord, He gives us a cheerful heart, which is better for our health than most medication (Proverbs 17:22). He encourages us Himself, and brings friends, family and even strangers into our life who share joy with our soul and even health to our body (Proverbs 16:24)

He hears our cries and digs our soul out of the mire and deep pits of this world, and He keeps us capable of serving Him
(Psalm 30:2-3). He loves our faith in His faithfulness and answers our petitions to make us well, if not on this earth, in our life to come (Luke 8:48).

Prayer:
Father God, thank You for Your continual presence in our life, for holding our hand, guiding us with Your Truth, and receiving us into eternity where we will serve at the pleasure of our King Jesus. Even when our body fails, You strengthen our soul and spirit forever through the inheritance of Your Kingdom (Psalm 73:23-26).

You keep us from temptation by giving us Your strength when life overwhelms us (1 Corinthians 10:13). You remain our salvation, our rock and fortress, our shield and our defense, our stronghold and our deliverer in whom we find safety and shelter. We give You all of our praise and the glory for all You do in, through and for us (Psalm 18:2; Jeremiah 17:14).

Thought for the Day:
Biblical principles enable us to be healthier, spiritually minded, balanced, adjusted, well-rounded, and enjoy a full and abundant life, as we serve Him with our whole heart, soul, mind and strength. - John 10:10
