Trusting in the Lord Always

Scenic View of Sea Against Sky at Sunset

Trusting in the Lord is the hub of our life on this earth. Everything else revolves around it. Our trust in Him guarantees our life in eternity once we ask Jesus to forgive our sins and to be our Savior.

God's Word tells us that we are blessed when we trust in Him. Every day, the roots of our salvation stretch deeper into the spiritual realm, and we thirst for our Living Water to sustain us (John 7:37-39). Our leaves of dependence fan out and soak up the wisdom and truth of the Son.

We look forward to our times of devotional reading, digesting His Word, singing His praises all day long, fellowship and corporate worship with His Saints, sharing our faith with anyone who will listen, and continually communing with the Lord (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

As we mature in our faith in God's faithfulness, we make Him our Lord. We submit to His Word and adopt His precepts as our way of life. Our confidence in His mercy and grace increases as we walk in His will. This world holds little value for us.

Once we come to a devastating breaking point in our life, we learn that Jesus is also our sovereign King. We start to obey His Spirit's direction for each moment of our day. We no longer fear what life will throw at us.

We know that regardless of the horrific circumstances that we experience, Jesus walks through it with us and in us. The issues may be more than we can handle, but they are never more than Christ in us can handle (Colossians 1:27, Galatians 2:20; Jeremiah 17:7-8).

As we trust in the Lord, we are like a great oak tree, with extensive roots that secure us to the firm, secure hold we have on our Lord and King. We are assured of His unconditional love for us, regardless of any situation we face, and we hear His Spirit's guidance through each moment of the day.

Prayer:
Father God, we put our hope in You, rather than in things and people of this earthly realm. We live for Christ, because He is our whole life (Colossians 3:3-4). Negative emotions are a thing of the past, regardless of our circumstances, because our expectations are in You, and not in humanity, luck, fate or karma. Draw us closer to You as we allow patience to have her perfect work in us (James 1:4-8).

Especially, when we go through that event that serves as our breaking point - that devastating issue that brings us to our knees, and then pushes us to stand victoriously to our feet as we praise You through it all. Thank You for walking with us and in us through all of our experiences during our lifetime. We love You more than words can express.

Thought for the Day:
When people hurt us, and we struggle with resentment, bitterness and unforgiveness, we remember that only as we forgive and  graciously view the other person's behavior from their viewpoint, can God actually forgive our human failings as well, and prove to us that He is always worthy of our trust.
- Matthew 6:14
