A Word to the Weary

 Pine Trees

Every struggle, doubt, heartache and fear we can imagine is common to us all. As Born Again Believers, we simply cry out to God in the midst of them and He comforts us, strengthens us, saves us from our distress, and gives us His healing (Psalm 30:2, 107:19-20).

Even in death, our body goes to the grave, but our spirit and soul live on in God’s presence into eternity. God gives strength to the weary and increases His power, wisdom, and guidance to the weak (Isaiah 40:29). We burst forth in praises to God, thanking Him for His intervention, provision, unfailing love, and gracious help for all of us (Psalm 107:21).

Even in temptation, when we experience the thoughts that are common to everyone else in a similar situation, all of the lies of the devil are demolished by our God of angel armies (1 Corinthians 10:13; 2 Kings 6:17). Our body and soul may fail us, but God is the strength of our heart and our supply forever (Psalm 73:26).

We praise Him because we never forget His benefits, forgiveness of our sins, healing of our diseases, redemption from the pit of hell, etc. (Psalm 6:2, 103:2-4). He turns our sorrow into times of dancing and rejoicing, He removes our grief, and He clothes us with His joy (Psalm 30:10-11).

We release the abuse, gut-wrenching issues, and neglect of our past to Him, and He gives us a new beginning, restores what the canker worm destroyed, and makes the desert places fruitful and verdant. He also gives us crowns of love and compassion (2 Corinthians 5:17; Joel 2:25; Isaiah 35:1-2; Psalm 103:4).

God guides us, His sheep, with His rod and staff, provides us with grassy fields from which to feast, and fresh streams to quench our thirst (Psalm 23). The Lord protects and preserves His Saints, and we are counted among the blessed of our society; He sustains us when we are sick, and He restores us to eternal health (Psalm 41:2-3).

Prayer:

Father God, we sin against You, but You heal us, even when we reap the consequences of our own choices (Psalm 41:4). When we are weary, brokenhearted, discouraged and sick and tired of life, You bind up our wounds and encourage us (Psalm 147:3). You are our faithful Shepherd, and we lack nothing that we need.

Our cup of blessings overflows, because of Your goodness, and You will take us to dwell in Your house forever (Psalm 23). You hear our cries for help and deliver us from our troubles, You stay close to us when we are brokenhearted and comfort us each moment of our day, and You rescue all those who take refuge in You (Psalm 34:17-22).

Thought for the Day:

We can continue to attempt to pave our own way to success, but in reality, we are often hindered by our past trauma and hobbled by our worry and fears; even if we learn from our past, we will only achieve a skeleton of the fulfillment that could be ours if we accept God’s mercy and grace as He provides us with a new life.
