God's Dwelling Place

 White Hanging Chair

One exciting aspect of living as a God-fearing Christian is that we are God’s dwelling place – His temple.  His Spirit continually takes up His residence within us (1 Corinthians 3:16, 14:25). This is how we know that we are truly converted – we focus on our faith in God, and Christ abides in us (2 Corinthians 13:5; Galatians 4:19).

God gives us an open door of invitation to receive Jesus as our Savior, and no one can close it, except us (Revelation 3:8). The Wise hear the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus, believe this truth, walk away from a life of sin, put all of our trust in Jesus, and we are sealed by God’s Spirit into His family (Ephesians 1:12-13).

God’s Spirit strengthens our inner being with the power of His Spirit so that we will see our need for a Savior, and trust Jesus with our life. Then He fills us through our entire being with all of His fullness, and He gives us the richest measure of His presence and we become a person totally filled with God (Ephesians 3:16-19, Amplified Bible).

We embrace the mystery of Jesus abiding within us, and He fills us with the hope of His glory (Colossians 1:27). Our life is transformed because of His presence in us, and we live through Him and due to Him (John 6:57). His presence frees our spirit from sin - both that which we inherit from Adam, and our own (Romans 5:12).

God gives us His peace, and pure fellowship with Him and other Believers. He frees us from sin. However, we are still easily tangled up again in Satan’s web of deceit, until we realize the impact of our union with Christ and sit down with Him on His eternal throne (John 14:3).

We prove our love for Him by obeying His precepts, and then the Trinity of God make their home in us. We gradually realize the Truth that Jesus is in God, we are in Him, and He is in us – united with the Trinity in spirit, soul and body (Galatians 2:20; John 14:3, 20-23, 17:15,24).

Prayer:

Father God, thank You that although we must remain on this earth - even once we come to believe in Jesus’ finished work for us on Calvary’s cross, Jesus prays for You to protect us from evil (John 17:15). Once we finish the work on earth for which You created us to perform through Your presence within us, Jesus looks forward to us living with Him wherever He is (John 17:24).

Help us to live, act and have our entire existence be about Christ, who is our whole life (Colossians 3:3-4). We look forward to being just like Him, when we finally see Him as He is in His immortal and infinite state in Heaven (1 John 3:2-3; Acts 17: 28). He is our solid hope of glory both in this world and in eternity (Colossians 1:27; 2 Corinthians 4:6).

Thought for the Day:

If we continue to practice sin after praying to receive Christ, we were convicted, but we have not been converted; we have not seen Him with our spiritual eyes, or truly known Him as our Savior, because when we actually abide in Him, and He abides in us, we no longer have a desire to live in habitual sin.
