Viewed from Eternity

White, Brown, and Purple Petaled Flowers

White, Brown, and Purple Petaled Flowers

An eternal mindset gives all of our circumstances a Godly emphasis. We worry less, experience diminished stress, do not succumb to fear, and give God all of the glory for our victories and our serenity (Psalm 98:2). The matters of our heart take on an infinite focus rather than a finite one.

We care less for earthly gain, and we put all of our treasure in vessels not made with human hands. We focus on the eternal rewards, rather than temporal ideals; and we walk in the Spirit and no longer fulfill the lusts of our flesh (Galatians 5:15-25). We find our joy in bearing everlasting fruit for God’s Kingdom.

When we compare our overwhelming concerns with the faithfulness of God, who has provided for our every need from His abundant supply (Philippians 4:19), we erupt into spontaneous praise for His goodness and glory (Psalm 98:1). There is nothing that is too hard for Him to accomplish (Genesis 18:14; Jeremiah 32:17, 27-35).

God reveals His holiness in the sight of every earthly nation, through both His creation and His Saints (Psalm 98:2; Romans 1:20). He proved Himself through His exploits for Israel of old, and all the surrounding countries were in awe of Him and His continual victories on Israel’s behalf (Psalm 98:3).

People in our life watch us too, as we live out our testimony to God’s gracious goodness for us, as well as His faithfulness and blessings for His children. His people feel secure in His eternal love and provision (Psalm 98:1; Hebrews 13:8). All of creation worships our loving and nurturing Father God, and we do too (Psalm 98:7-8).

God’s Word invites us to select our favorite musical instrument and to join the Heavenly orchestra in the presence of our God and King. He is coming to judge the earth, as well as the people of the earth, with His fair and righteous judgment (Psalm 98:4-6, 9).

We get ready for His coming by turning away from unholy living to trusting in Him with our whole heart (John 3:16-18). He redeems and sanctifies us of all of our failings, our unholy quirks, and our yearning after the enticements of this world, as He makes us a fitting vessel for His service (1 John 1:9; 2 Timothy 2:21).

Prayer:

Father God, You not only save us from the lies of the devil and the lusts of our flesh, but You instill in us the truth that You raised Jesus from the dead to give us eternal life (Romans 10:9). We simply believe in Your Truth with our whole heart, and You strengthen our inner being so that we can repent of our sins, and make our confession with our sincere thoughts, words, and actions as well (Romans 10:10).

When we trust in You for our conversion, You always give us abundantly more than we can ever imagine (Ephesians 3:20), and You provide us with Your peace and joy in every calamity that befalls us. You never, ever abandon us (Hebrews 13:5). Your Spirit within us comforts us with the Truth from Your Word, as well as a deep assurance in our heart of Your unconditional love for us.

Thought for the Day:

Although God allows circumstances to break us of our pride, rebellion, self-sufficiency and apathy, He gives us hope for our present life and our future; we look beyond our current trials, and we remember God’s provision in our past, which gives us peace, faith and confidence for our future both in this earthly realm and in eternity.
