Mindful Awareness

Giving our prayerful attention to each moment as we experience it allows us to live in mindful awareness of God’s presence in our life and to follow His Holy Spirit’s guidance moment-by-moment throughout the day as we store up in heaven the enduring treasure that neither rust nor moths can ever destroy (Matthew 6:20).

This allows us to encounter God on a personal level, and to understand the extent of His astounding love for us as His unique child. We do not have to arrive at perfection to minister to others in their walk with the Lord. We just need to maintain a willing heart for God to use.

Sitting quietly in His presence allows us to pay attention to what we feel, smell, taste, see, and hear in this one moment of time. Through this attentiveness we develop complete awareness to what is happening in and around us, which helps us to feel fully alive.

His perpetual presence permeates our being as we start to consciously live in the moment, and that is why a daily quiet time of praise, devotion, and meditation on God’s Word is so important. We develop an awareness of His constant presence within us, and we worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:24).

Our habit of consulting the Lord each moment of the day allows us to take time to fellowship with Him in both times of silence and peace, and also times of chaos and stress. We always feel so apologetic when we realize, too late, that we neglected the guidance of His Holy Spirit in some instance.

We also realize that we often miss out on success in our endeavors, and we reap negative consequences from our self-centered and humanistic choices, because we did not listen to His still, small voice within us. We can call on Him to help us to simplify our life, to listen to His Spirit, and to obey His guidance as we continually abide in His presence.

Prayer:

Father God, You teach us that as we live our life surrendered to Your Holy Spirit, You give us Your desires as our own (Proverbs 7:3). You sanctify our soul, and You put us on a level path in order to escape our bondage to the roller coaster of this world’s humanistic goals, worldview, and expectations (Psalms 27:11).

You did not put us on earth to amass worldly goods, but to serve as Your vessels from which You can reach and redeem others. Our intense desire is to seek You with our whole heart, soul, mind, will, and strength. We praise You for the lasting freedom You provide for us as we diligently seek Your Truth (John 8:31-36).

Thought for the Day:

We strive to enter God’s rest by reducing our dependence on our self, and instead, trusting with our whole heart in God’s plans for us; we do not stop serving the Lord in order to enter His rest, but we do stop making our own plans and commit to walk in His Spirit instead.
