Darkness and Light

Our God is our salvation both in the valleys and on the mountaintops. Whether our circumstances are good, bad, or ugly, He is there with us in the midst of them. As we totally trust in Him alone, He delivers us through them all. We can view with joy each temptation and trial we experience, because Christ in us is our hope of deliverance (Colossians 1:27).

God invites us to come to Him as He calms every storm (Psalm 107:29), levels out our path (Psalm 27:1), and provides us with everything we need to successfully traverse the trials and tribulations we encounter each day (Psalm 46:1). When we place our burdens in His capable hands, He gives us rest in the midst of them (Psalm 55:22; Matthew 11:28-30).

Whenever we are afraid, we can put our trust totally in the Lord (Psalm 56:3). This allows us to sleep peacefully no matter what we are experiencing (Psalm 4:8). His presence in our life gives us joy in exchange for fear (Matthew 14:27). He is our faithful advocate and intercessor (Romans 8:34; 1 John 2:1; Mark 4:39).

Sometimes we just want to fly away and hide from our troubles (Psalm 55:6). As we trust in God alone, and as we focus on His faithfulness, goodness, provision, and wisdom, we remain in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3). God is the best hiding place we can ever come to for rest (Psalm 32:7).

God delivers us through all our troubles, and He surrounds us with His songs of deliverance (Psalm 32:7, 93:4). He is stronger than anything we could ever experience in the world. He is our perfect light in the darkness, so we have no need to be afraid (John 1:5; Psalm 27:1)

Prayer:

Father God, we need Your light in the increasing darkness in this world (Matthew 5:15). Your light came into the world, but people love darkness, because they think it hides their shameful deeds (John 3:19). Open their eyes so they may turn from their darkness and come to Your light.

Break the yoke of bondage that Satan has over them by his power so they may come to You instead and receive Your forgiveness of their sins and Your inheritance for those who are sanctified by faith in You (Acts 26:18). Help us to be a beacon for others to notice Your blessings in our life and to be drawn to You (Matthew 5:15).

Thoughts for the Day:

God calls us all to be children of the light, to forsake our iniquity, and to walk in His light instead of darkness. Otherwise, the darkness will overcome us. We will not know where we are going, unless we believe in the saving work of Jesus on Calvary’s cross and enter His light for eternity.
