The Plague of Loneliness

 Mountains Covered With Snow

Have you ever felt lonely, even in a crowd of people, with your family and friends, or on a date with your spouse? There is a buzz of talking all around you, but no one takes the time to talk to you. You wonder if you are boring, have bad breath, etc.

When you attempt to talk to someone, their attention drifts and they look away, glance at their phone, or leave you as you are talking in order to join another conversation taking place across the room.

You feel like you have a bag over your head, and no one can really see you. Maybe this occurs, because we do not take an interest in that other person, but we monopolize the conversation. People get tired of the monologue and want to escape.

I learned that God may want me to serve as His ambassador. I look around the room and ask for God's discernment to show me who He wants me to engage in conversation, or to listen to the conversations around me and to silently pray for their issues, or the people chatting.

Even in our prayer life, we can feel estranged from God at times. This occurs because we hide secret sins in our heart, and God withdraws because we have grieved Him (Ephesians 4:30). God wants us to repent of our sins, so that our fellowship with Him is not broken.

God is worthy of our trust in every situation that we ever encounter. He works out every concern for our ultimate good (Romans 8:28). He uses trials to teach us that He is faithful or to show us some object lesson through life’s circumstances.

God uses issues to increase our intimacy with Him, and to give us wisdom on how to comfort others (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). He uses our experiences to end one chapter in our life and to open a whole new experience for us that will increase our faith (1 Corinthians 2:9).

Prayer:

Father God, at times, a storm cloud gathers over our life, pouring rain and thunder and lightning into our circumstances. We can choose to withdraw from people to avoid conflict, allow stress to paralyze us with fear, take a path around the mountain ahead of us, or trust in You to walk in us and with us through this tumultuous time.

Teach us that even adversity is our friend, because it causes us to run to the safety of Your wings and to trust in You for the outcome of our issues (Psalm 91). As we embrace the storm, Your presence is more certain, and we cherish each moment with You. We look forward to the revelation of the seed for a miracle that You plant in every trial.

Thought for the Day:

When in doubt, it is time to seek God’s wisdom about our concern, to rely on His grace, and to use His strength within us to finish the task in front of us; God allows us to experience trials to mold us into the image of Christ and to produce His divine nature in us, as it replaces of our carnal characteristics.
