Commended or Condemned

Close Up Photo of Yellow-Orange Rose

Jesus gave His life for us, in order to show us that we have great value in God’s scheme of things. God knows when even one sparrow dies, and He loves us even more. The hair on the head of every person ever born, that grows in and falls out on a daily basis, is numbered by God (Matthew 10:29-31).

We are not defined by our financial portfolio, the status of our friends, the busyness of our schedule, our family name, the number of good works that we perform, the degrees we earn, the cost of the clothes that we wear and the car that we drive, or the number of expensive “toys” we own, etc.

We are actually defined by our eternal destination – either as a child of God or of the devil (1 John 3:10-18). There is no status in-between and no third option. We make this choice for our self, and we either condemn our self or commend our self by this decision (John 3:18; Ephesians 2:10).

Once we repent – turn away from our sins, accept Christ as our Savior, and believe that His death paid the penalty of our transgression of God’s laws, then we enter into God’s family as His adopted children. We can stand against Satan’s condemnation of us and receive God’s commendation instead (Romans 8:1).

Jesus did not inherit Adam’s sin as we did, because the Spirit of God implanted His seed within the virgin Mary’s egg to form the perfect union between God and man. However, the human part of Jesus still had to learn obedience through the things that He suffered, just as we do (Hebrews 4:15, 5:8).

He endured every aspect of life on this sin-filled planet that we do in our lifetime, yet without sin (Hebrews 4:15). That makes Him our great High Priest that has compassion on our plight on this globe (Hebrews 4:14-16). He is also our advocate with our Father God, pleading our case on our behalf (1 John 2:1; John 2:2).

Jesus abides within us now by His Spirit, and He walks with us, in us and through us during everything that we ever experience. When we yoke up with Him, rather than insisting on doing things our own way, He makes our burdens easy and light, because He carries our load with us (Matthew 11:28-30).

Prayer:

Father God, when we think about it, Your plans for us are truly amazing. We are human; yet at the same time, we have Your divine presence within us. We have the same ability to walk in obedience to Your precepts that Jesus did. Thank You for humbling our pride and causing us to desire to cast our self on You, because You care for us (1 Peter 5:7). Thank You also for sending Jesus to pay our sin-debt.

We rejoice that we have the privilege of living now and for eternity as children in Your family. We are amazed to learn that we are co-heirs with Jesus of everything that is Yours. We look forward to living throughout eternity in Your presence, and we thank You that we have Your Trinity within us even now. We praise You all the days of our life.

Thought for the Day:

When we listen to Satan’s lies that we are worthless and that we will never amount to anything, we are despondent and feel inferior; yet, when we replace those lies with the truth that Jesus died for us to make us worthy of all that God has in store for us, we become an effective tool in our Father’s world.
