Depending on Christ in Us

Pink Cherry Blossoms

Our negative emotions are usually attached to a belief that we recently adopted, or that we have held onto since childhood. Discovering that belief, and taking it to God to heal us, will set us free from lies perpetuated by both Satan and significant others in our life.

Once we hear God explain to us the lie-based belief, we are free to forgive the person who wounded us, and to move beyond this roadblock in our life. This does not require any fortitude, resolution or conformity on our part, but occurs naturally once God reveals to us His truth.

The light of God’s truth shines in our soul, and it helps us to fully believe it with our whole heart, which allows us to forgive readily as we want God to forgive us (Matthew 6:15). Once we forgive, we find our self feeling freer and bearing more fruit for the Kingdom of God.

We no longer strain and stress in our attempts to drum up the emotional energy to forgive, but we freely forgive because we have been forgiven much as well. Christ in us becomes our focal point in life, and we attempt to totally surrender all of our cares to the Lord as we pursue His Kingdom and holiness for our life (Galatians 2:20).

We no longer endeavor to produce the fruit of the Spirit in our life (Galatians 5:22-23), but we hang out on the Vine of Christ, and we allow Him to bear fruit in and through us. We cease from our labors and enter into God’s rest instead (Hebrews 4:9-10).

Like Jesus, we focus on the joy of the Lord as our strength (Nehemiah 8:10). We praise the Lord for His compassion and goodness to us, as well as for His example of keeping God’s joy as His focus during His devastating trial, torture, and execution on Calvary’s cross (Hebrews 12:2).

Prayer:

Father God, thank You for the awesome gift of redemption through Jesus’ sacrifice for us all. We feel so loved and complete through His presence in our life (Colossians 2:10). Remind us that if we doubt the veracity of Your Word, we can search our soul to find out why. We may have been disappointed at one time and never healed of our discouragement (Matthew 18:35).

Believing a lie is never healthy, so thank You for revealing Your Truth to us in every area of our life. What we believe about past trauma will influence our feelings and actions now, so we ask You to set us totally free from any and all of our lie-based thinking. We want to purposely cooperate with Your Spirit as He renews our thoughts, strengthens our faith, and transforms our life.

Thought for the Day:

What we believe in our heart and confess with our mouth is influenced by past and current trauma in our life (Romans 10:10; James 2:19); yet as the Spirit of God renews us from the inside out, and as we cling to the Vine of Christ and abide in Him, we will bear righteous fruit for the Kingdom of God (John 15:5).
