A life in Christ gives us everlasting assurance, strength, wisdom, peace, joy, and love. We cannot accomplish anything of lasting value apart from Him; yet everything that He calls us to do through Him is successful (John 15:5; Philippians 4:13). Through Him we experience peace, even during times of tribulation (John 16:33).
Jesus overcame the challenges of this life through His obedience to our Father, His scourging and humiliation, His crucifixion and death, and through His resurrection and ascension back to His place of glory on His eternal throne. By His divinity within us, evil cannot overcome us, and we overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21).
God set a goal for our life, and we press toward it with all our might as we fight ‘the good fight” and “run the race” (Ephesians 2:10; Philippians 3:14; 2 Timothy 4:7; Galatians 5:7). Our belief in Jesus as the Son of God helps us to overcome the lies of the devil, the lust of our flesh, and the draw of the world around us.
Our trust in God gives us total victory so we can endure to the end of the age or our time on this earth, and we will reign with Jesus forever (1 John 5:4-5; Revelation 2:26). Of course, if we deny Jesus and decide not to believe in His Word of Truth, He will also deny us before our Father God (2 Timothy 2:12; Matthew 24:13).
Overcomers have a new name written in the Book of Life, and our works are the white garments we will receive in Heaven to wear at our wedding feast with our bridegroom – the Lord Jesus Christ. We are pillars in the House of the Lord, and we will sit with Jesus on His throne as adopted heirs of our Father God (Revelation 3:6, 12, 21; 21:7).
Prayer:
Father God, knowing that Jesus will return for His Bride gives us a vision and a hope to persevere to the end of Your purpose for us living on this earth (Revelation 3:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21; Hebrews 3:6). You make Your church victors over satanic forces, and You help Your Saints to overcome evil when we obey Your plans for our life (Matthew 12:20, 16:18). We look forward to Jesus overcoming the armies of the world, which are led by the anti-Christ, and to Christ’s kingdom coming to the earth (Revelation 17:14).
When we are weary of life on this globe, we cling to Christ, hide under the shadow of Your wings, and draw comfort from Your Spirit and Your Word (Revelation 2:11; Psalm 91). Thank You for allowing us to overcome, so we will never experience the second death (Revelation 2:11). Thank You that Christ abiding within us is greater than Satan who prods along on the earth like a lion, seeking those that he may devour (1 John 4:4; 2 Corinthians 4:4).
Thought for the Day:
Jesus gave us an example of an overcomer by enduring the cross, although He despised the shame, and seeing it through until He paid our sin-debt for us; God will restore us to Paradise, and He will give all overcomers the right to eat from the tree of life in Paradise.
