Nothing to Fear

Aerial View of Green Mountains in a Foggy Day

As humans we have so many fears: fear of being controlled, of failure, of rejection, of embarrassment, or loss and grief, etc. We even fear the results of following God’s will for our life because we worry about what He may require of us. Due to these thoughts, we need courage, trust, and faith in His faithfulness to His children.

Jesus is the perfect example for us on how to walk in God’s Spirit and not to rely on our human resources. He spent hours in prayer to our Father, and He only did and said what He heard our Father say and do (John 5:19, 30). Henry Blackaby suggested that we “find out what God is doing and join Him”.

God calls us to focus on Him rather than on our fears and human capabilities. He tends to call the weak people of this world, so He can be strong through us. He does not need the celebrities and the wise, but humble and obedient children. This way He gets the glory from our feats and accomplishments.

Our faith in God grows during times of trials and troubles, but we can change our focus by looking for the seed for a miracle that God plants within each uncomfortable situation that we encounter. We get stronger and more dependent on God when we endure tribulation.

We are either coming out of a storm, in the midst of a storm, or going into a storm. That is not a comforting thought unless we realize that the Trinity of God abides within us and will go through it with us. Jesus calmed the storms in His disciple’s lives, and He will do the same for us (Mark 4:35-41).

God calls us to trust Him in everything we encounter. When we do, our soul is full of joy and peace rather than fear and worry. God’s Word speaks so much about fear, because it is a common malady for human beings; but each verse encourages us not to fear, but to put our faith and trust in the great “I Am” (Galatians 2:20; Exodus 3:14).

Prayer:

Father God, thank You for abiding within the spirit of all Your children. We could not successfully survive this life without Your constant attention to the details that we face each moment of the day. We believe, but we need You to help our struggles with unbelief (Mark 9:24). Each step of obedience that we take, strengthens our faith and trust in You.

Remind us to use our spiritual eyes and ears to discern Your will in all our circumstances and not to borrow trouble by worrying about tomorrow (Matthew 6:34). Our trust in You is based on Your faithful provision for us throughout our lifetime, as well as reading in Your Word about Your love and care for those who love You with their whole heart.

Thoughts for the Day:

When we consider what could go wrong in any situation, we borrow trouble that may not even exist; however, when we boldly follow God’s direction for each moment of our day, we are strengthened by His presence within us and encouraged by His substantial involvement in the lives of His authentic Born Again Believers.
