The Holy Spirit clearly proves to us that in the last days some people will turn away from the true faith and the teachings of God’s Word, and they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons (1 Timothy 4:1). These false teachings are imbedded in the hearts of these false preachers who teach a misrepresentation of God’s Word.
Many false prophets, in the name of the Lord, teach delusionary doctrines that sound true in their own mind, although God did not inspire them. They preach a fabricated doctrine that is nothing more than a worthless speculation, and they declare it as God’s truth (Jeremiah 14:14, 23:25-26; Matthew 24:3-6, 11).
Gullible people who are not grounded in the veracity of God’s Word will be influenced by the hypocrisy of these liars, whose conscience is seared by a hot iron (1 Timothy 4:2). God’s Word admonishes us not to fall by any means into the deception of false teachers because the Day of the Lord is coming, and there will be a great falling away from God’s Truth (2 Thessalonians 2:3).
Many people are convicted of their sins, some at a young age. They pray a prayer and believe they are saved (2 Corinthians 7:10). This gives them a false hope of spending eternity with Jesus in Heaven; however, because their lifestyle is unconverted, and they have little to no spiritual desire, they are not truly Born Again, converted, or living a surrendered life to the Lord (1 John 3:9; Romans 8:9).
We all sin and fall short of God’s standard for holiness (Romans 3:22-25). Yet, God freely gives any authentic searcher His eternal life provided only through the blood of the Lamb and in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23). Only by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ can we be saved (Acts 16:31).
The only way of eternal salvation is to turn away from our sinful lifestyle, declare with our mouth that Jesus is Lord, and to believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9-10). We cannot allow anyone to deceive us with meaningless words, no matter how appealing their lies may sound.
Jesus said, “I am the way, truth and life and no one comes to the Father except by me.” He called Himself the “gate” and declare that anyone who enters eternity through Him will be saved. He also called Himself the “door” and stated that if we enter in through Him, we shall be eternally saved.
Surrendering our life to Jesus is the only way to receive resurrection life (John 6:40, 10:7-9, 11: 25, 14:6). The wrath of God is coming on the disobedient, and they actually condemn themselves by their unbelief (John 3:18; Ephesians 5:6). There is salvation through no other means than through Jesus Christ because there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12).
Prayer:
Father God, we ask that You protect our loved ones from believing the false doctrine of demons. Convict these end-time false teachers of the accuracy of Your truth and help them to see the error of the false teachings that sound right in their own mind, but that twist the scriptures and pervert Your gospel of Jesus Christ. These false teachers were prevalent in the New Testament era, but even more so in today’s spiritual climate.
They take Colossians 1:20 out of the context of the rest of the chapter (Colossians 1:18-19, 21-23) and teach that You will ultimately reconcile everyone, even Satan, to Yourself. They miss so many Biblical verses that speak Your actual Truth. We thank You for keeping us on Your straight and narrow road for our protection and for our eternal salvation (Revelation 20:10, 21:5-8; Philippians 2:10-11; James 2:19; John 12:44-50; Matthew 25:48; Isaiah 66:24; Mark 9:43-48).
Thoughts for the Day:
It is so sad that there is a group of false teachers today who propose a doctrine similar to the Catholic belief in Purgatory. They say that hell is just a temporary place of torment; however, according to God’s Word, Satan will eventually be cast into the lake of fire along with false prophets and a host of others who condemn themselves by their unbelief, and they will all be tormented day and night for eternity, not just temporarily.
- Revelation 14:11, 20:10; John 3:16-18
