Just Listen

God’s Word encourages us to “pray without ceasing.” Kneeling all day is not physically possible, but we can commune with God in our spirit without interruption, even as we speed through the events and responsibilities of our day.

Busyness is often a way that we use to “medicate” our self. If we are too busy to reflect, we can avoid the pain in our life. Past abuse or current issues compound together to create chaos in our life unless we have something else on which to focus. Noise and rushing about our day help us to ignore the ache in our soul

They create a diversion to keep our mind occupied and to help us to disregard the demonic forces heaping shame, accusations, and reminders of rejection and negative memories from our past. Our only true healing, however, comes from quietness and confidence that God uses to make us whole and complete (Isaiah 30:15).

Listening to the self-talk in our soul can actually lead us to heal in many areas of our life. As we face our negative thoughts and emotions, as well as our physical pain, we can reduce the stress, fears, and insomnia that prevent our healing in body and soul, and that keep us from maturing in our spirit.

These self-defeating words torment us day and night even from our subconscious mind. Facing this negative self-talk can reveal the source of these demonic lies, and ancestral “curses” that well-meaning but wounded people from our past or current situations spoke over us.

Consulting God for His directions throughout our day makes life flow more smoothly than our “to-do” lists, although making notes of His directives is perfectly acceptable. As we quiet our soul and listen as Him commune with us, we rely on His Biblical truths and His spoken words during our prayer time with You.

Prayer:

Father God, thank You for setting us free from the bondage of harsh, abusive words spoken to us or about us which lie about our worth and true identity, which actually come from You alone. Our humanity is flawed at best, but Your healing truth is sharp and powerful and separates the lies in our soul, that we believe are true, from Your truth which abides in our spirit (Hebrews 4:12).

Thank You for delivering us from these tormenting voices and painful criticisms that hinder our success and keep us chained to disappointment in our accomplishments and despising our self. This way the lies do not hinder our prayers, our faith in You, and our ability to be used by You to further Your Kingdom in our soul and in our world. Thank You so much for Your supernatural healing, Your constant love and grace, and our unity with Your presence within us.

Thoughts for the Day:

Listening in such a way to prepare a response to what the other person is telling us, is not really listening. There is no need for us to respond unless they ask for a response from us. Rather it is more needful for us to actively listen to what they are saying to us, and to show them empathy and that we understand what they are communicating. This also allows us to hear from God in case He wants us to share with this person a Bible verse or something He taught us in a similar circumstance.
