Childhood
trauma encourages us to dissociate from events as they occur. We bury them deep
within our subconscious mind.
This
is the mind's way of avoiding the fear, agonizing stress, mental deficits, lack
of individuality, and the other results that we suffered from this abuse or
deprivation.
These
suppressed memories produce a loss of brain cells, at the same time that our
body is growing. Our soul - our thoughts, emotions and will - is divided and
fragmented. These repressed memories bog us down in adulthood.
We
disconnect from our true self, because we feel shame and fear. We want to avoid
all remembrances of the pain that we suffered. This causes disruptions in our
metabolic equilibrium, and we suffer physical ailments, which often follow us
into adulthood.
We
lose, or have confusion about, our identity as a person. Our awareness and
perception of life is impaired. Anxiety, a lack of trust, fear, insecurity, and
even hopelessness prevail in our thought processes.
We
have memory amnesia of these events; yet, we also have selected snippets of unpleasant
recollections of parts of these incidences, as our conscious mind attempts to
reconnect with the parts of our self that we buried along with these memories.
Therefore,
our goal as an adult is to recover from these life altering events and their
effects on our life, and to receive God's restoration. We accomplish this feat
by going to God to hear His truth regarding each event (Psalm 51:6).
He
restores our mental and emotional stability, as he heals our thoughts and
emotions. He helps us to resolve the lies, which Satan planted in each
traumatic event that we experienced (http://transformationprayer.org).
We
trust God to work out everything - even negative experiences - for our good
(Romans 8:28). We follow the leading of God's Spirit through each second of
time, which He gives us to serve Him. Learning first-hand who our true self is,
we come to appreciate the beautiful being that we are through Christ in us (Psalm
34:18).
Prayer:
Father
God, we so enjoy discovering who You created us to be, and what You plan for us
to do with our life (Ephesians 2:10). As we travel each step into wholeness, we
lose our wary anxiety, and we accept life as it comes to us each moment of the
day. Thank You that Jesus reveals to us Your truth about Satan's lies, and that
this truth sets us free (John 8:32).
Help
us to forgive our self for perceived events that were out of our control, and
also for real issues that we caused by our own choices and behavior. Teach us
to accept all of our flaws and idiosyncrasies as Your Spirit sanctifies each
one of them. Our faith in Your plan for our life gives us the courage to come
out of our shell and to move forward on our journey in Christ.
Thought
for the Day:
We
suffer many afflictions during life in this sin-cursed world, but the Lord
delivers His righteous ones out of them all; then we learn to rely on Christ in
us to work out our salvation in us.
