Receiving
eternal salvation is so easy that many people discount its truth. They refuse
to believe God's Word, and they make fun of those who do. They are irreverent,
skeptical and sarcastic, and constantly fight the Spirit as He draws them with
His mercy and love. Those who refuse to believe, condemn themselves (John 3:18)
and face an eternity of torment.
Those
who do believe in Jesus take the first step towards an eternity with God. From
the moment of our faith-filled prayer, God starts the transforming process that
revitalizes our life. When we believe in Jesus, our Father God begins to write
his laws on our heart.
He
is our God, and we are His adopted children (Hebrews 8:10; John 6:29). His
Spirit guides and comforts us every moment of every day as He converts us. Our Heavenly
Father is always present for us and forever faithful to His children.
Trusting
in Jesus is as near as our own heart and mouth. We simply turn away from our
sins, and believe in our heart that Christ's crucifixion and resurrection save
us. Then, we share with others the difference that He makes in our own life
(Romans 10:8-10).
Sometimes,
it is hard to put our trust in a God we cannot see. In a Biblical account, one
man cried out, "I believe, but help my unbelief!" (Mark 9:24). We
often lack the faith that we need for any number of personal issues throughout
our life.
Through
it all, God makes it clear that honesty is what He is looking for, rather than flawless
little Saints. He wants us to admit our doubt, to take ownership for our failings,
and to look to Him to strengthen and to perfect us.
God
lives within us, by His Spirit, whose guidance directs us through each day. We
trust one moment at a time, forgive our self for our failings, and realize that
we are never a failure with God's Trinity dwelling within us.
Prayer:
Father
God, we could never thank You enough for Your plan for our redemption. The fact
that Jesus suffered such a horrific persecution and execution, due to our individual
sins, crushes our heart with remorse. It humbles us, and makes us resolve to
commit our life to You for Your service now and for eternity. Then, we have
Jesus interceding for us (Romans 8:34).
He
helps us to stop making our own plans - even in the events that we design to
further Your Kingdom - but instead, to wait on Your Spirit's direction each
moment of the day. Let us see and feel Your daily gifts of love, and help us to
trust You, and to obey You in word and deed. Remind us to take the time to hear
Your voice and to follow the peace, which You give to us (Philippians 4:7-8).
Thought
for the Day:
Continuing
to share with others what God does for us each day of our life will help them
to see the reality of God's presence in our life, and some of them will
actually trust in Him for their salvation too; then we can share eternity with
them forever.
