Taking Our Concerns to the Lord

It is the many events that we face throughout the day that spoil our thoughts and feelings, and trigger our negative reactions. These prompts cause us to act in ways that ruin our relationships and sully our testimony for the Lord, unless we question our emotions and find out why the incident affected us negatively.

Taking an inventory of our honest feelings, about the issue that we face, will enable us to discover the hidden agenda in our heart. Asking our self why we reacted to the circumstance in a negative manner will shine a light on our hurt, fears, and insecurities that we harbor in our soul.

Verbally attacking others helps us to avoid focusing on our issues, and gives us a false sense of security in believing that we are keeping our self safe; however, this harms our relationships and diminishes our soul's health.

Journaling our thoughts will better help us, because it enables us to see a concrete expression of what is really bothering us beneath the surface of our reactions. Unresolved conflicts from our past are often the culprit. Another cause is not being allowed to have a part in making decisions that affect us.

Sometimes we permit issues to build up by burying them in our subconscious mind, and then we blow up with the power of all of those negative feelings, when we run out of patience. This confuses recipients of our anger, because they do not understand why the current issue bothered us so severely.

We often give so much, without receiving from others, that we deplete our emotional energy. We believe that sacrificing our self is a holy response to life. However, this is called codependence, and is an unhealthy lifestyle. We eventually run out of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual energy.

If we do not learn from the incidents in our life by dissecting our negative emotions and resolving them, they continue to affect our spirit, body and soul. In addition, we can meet our own needs, watch for God's hugs throughout our day, honestly express our concerns, and request help to meet our needs.

Prayer:
Father God, show us how our feelings are reflecting in our body language, eyes, facial expressions, and overall health in body and soul, because negative emotions and thoughts produce toxins that harm us. Help us to overcome these shocking electrical charges and lesions in our neurological pathways, so that You can restore Your energy flow and peaceful attitude within us.

We want to glorify You with our life and to share Your peace, love and joy with everyone we meet. We want others to see and experience the Christ in us and to give You the glory (Matthew 5:13-17). Help us to be a vessel of Your love to our self, our family, our community, our church family, and our world. We want to spend eternity with everyone we have come to love and appreciate in our life, as well as with strangers that we can influence with Your love.

Thought for the Day:
Ignoring or denying our negative emotions is counter-productive, because God gives them to us to repair some schism in our body or soul; taking our concerns to the Lord in prayer, and following His guidance and wisdom to resolve them, will keep us strong and healthy in body, soul and spirit.
