Trinity of God

Red Tulips in White Ceramic Vase

The Bible clearly instructs us that there are three personalities in our one God: (1 Corinthians 8:6; Genesis 1:26) the Father, Son and Spirit (Matthew 28:19). This sounds mysterious and a bit confusing until we realize that we see the same relationship in our human realm as well. One man can, at the same time, be a father, a son, and a grandfather – three distinct roles, but one person.

The Bible clearly explains that as one God, the Father is the person from whomall things are made, and we exist for Him; and the Son – the Lord Jesus Christ – is the one through whom are all things are created, and we exist through Him (1 Corinthians 8:6). The Holy Spirit is our Comforter, Sanctifier, and our Guide. He teaches us all things about God and helps us to remember God’s Word (John 14:26; 1 Peter 1:1-2).

The prophet Isaiah explains that the Trinity is seen through Jesus when he states that the child who is born in Bethlehem is a Son, the Prince of Peace, as well as the mighty God, the Everlasting Father, and our Wonderful Counselor. The government of the whole earth will eventually be on Jesus’ shoulders (9:6).

Jesus is often referred to as the Word who was with God from the beginning, and He was God even while He dwelt on this earth as the only begotten Son of the Father (1 John 1:1; John 1:14). The Lord Jesus is also Spirit who brings us liberty from Satan, sin, and the world (2 Corinthians 2:17).

So, there are three states of being in the Trinity: the Father, the Word - who is Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They are all one being (1 John 5:7). Jesus Himself explains to us the He and our Father are one (John 10:30). He also said that He was able to cast out devils by the Spirit of God (Matthew 12:28).

The Spirit gives us spiritual gifts to use for God’s glory; the Lord Jesus gives us different ministries; and our Father God works all things together for our good (1 Corinthians 12:4-6; Romans 8:28). With the Trinity of God, the Godhead, abiding within us, there is no way we can fail to fulfill God’s calling on our life (Ephesians 2:10).

Prayer:

Father God, thank You that we receive the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the communion with Your Holy Spirit, and Your love at the moment we are Born Again (2 Corinthians 13:14). We rejoice to see that all the fullness of Your Godhead dwells in us in bodily form through Jesus (Colossians 2:9). We clearly see Your Trinity at Jesus’ baptism. Your voice came out of Heaven stating that Jesus is Your Son in whom You are very pleased, and at the same time the Holy Spirit descended on Jesus like a dove (Luke 3:22).

Thank You for giving us Jesus who is the image of You, since You are invisible to the human eye. He is Your only begotten child, and the firstborn of all Your adopted children (Colossians 1:15). This all occurred according to Your foreknowledge as our Father, through the sanctification of Your Spirit, by the obedience of Jesus, Your Son, who shed His blood for us all (1 Peter 1:1-2). You revealed to Isaiah, Your prophet, that Jesus is King of Israel, the redeemer of all mankind, and the Lord of the hosts of angels. Compared to You there is no other God (Isaiah 44:6).

Thoughts for the Day:

By Jesus and through Jesus and to Jesus are all things made, and to Him will be glory forever (Romans 11:36). He lived His life doing good by the power of the Holy Spirit, and because our Father God was with Him. Jesus explained that He had to return to Heaven so the Comforter, the Spirit of truth that comes from our Father God, could come to dwell in every Born Again Believer and testify to the world of the importance of Jesus as our Savior and Lord.
