Attitude of Praise

In our lifetime, it is easy to forget the answered prayers, the physical healing, the emotional encouragement, the mental wisdom, and the financial aid that God provides for us each moment of every day. We often want more than we have, and we complain to Him, rather than praising the Lord for His constant protection, provision, and presence in us.

Before He ever created us in our mother’s womb (Psalm 139), God knew what we would need, the abuse we would suffer, the heartache that would threaten to take away our reason for living, and the physical diseases we would suffer. He already supplied for all our needs according to His glorious supernatural riches (Philippians 4:19).

We can adopt an attitude and habit of praising God every moment of the day, even during times of devastation, persecution, and trials. He comes to our rescue even more readily as we pour out our gratitude to Him for His care for us (Acts 16:25). We rejoice in the Lord always in every situation (Philippians 4:4-8).

The key to living in this victorious mental, emotional, and spiritual attitude is to keep our eyes focused on God rather than on our circumstances. The issues in our life are not worthy to be compared to the blessings God has in store for us both now and throughout eternity (Romans 8:18-19).

Living in depression, weariness, or with melancholy thoughts and emotions and behavior will only keep us chained to a pessimistic lifestyle. However, living with praises on our lips to our Father God, regardless of our issues in this life, will insulate us with a positive viewpoint, attitude, and motivation.

Prayer:

Father God, scientist and medical professionals tell us that our mental stability is often impacted by childhood trauma, adult experiences and interactions, and physical illnesses. We often run to the world to resolve these issues, when simply sitting in silent prayer and waiting on Your Truth about the negative thoughts and emotions that bother us will completely rearrange our focus about these issues.

Help us to trust in You with our entire heart, and not to depend on our human resources and perspective. Remind us to draw near to You during times of stress and fear and to embrace the incidents as we rely on You for Your outcome. As we look for the seed for a miracle that You plant in each trial we face, You deflect our thoughts from being overwhelmed by the issues at hand to the promises of Your Word

Thoughts for the Day:

Sometimes we feel hypocritical if we rejoice when we are sad, distressed, or bombarded with the negativity of life. Yet, joy breeds contentment, peace, and confidence in God’s provision for us regardless of what we encounter in life. God is our Alpha and Omega, our beginning and end, and He will complete the work in us that He started the moment we repent of our sinful lifestyle and surrender our life to Him.
