Seeking God’s Presence

God promises that if we draw close to Him, He will come close to us. We purify our heart from unholy desires, and we keep our hands unspotted by not chasing the aspects that this world offers (James 4:8). We continually seek His face and consult Him for even the most mundane issues of life (Proverbs 3:5-6).

The more we mature spiritually the more we pursue God’s attention, character, and divine nature. We grow in our unity with Him by spending each moment of our day in praying without ceasing – not only in our quiet place of prayer, but also in our spirit as we go about the duties of our day (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).

Trimming our daily agenda to have a life-work balance is healthy for our spirit, soul, and body. Scheduling time to relax gives our soul – our thoughts, emotions, and choices - a chance to catch up, rather than being left behind in the chaos of our life. Devoting our self to connecting to God’s intimate presence in our life quenches our spiritual hunger and thirst (Psalm 63:1-3).

As we put God first in our life, He smiles on us and is gracious in providing all our needs (Psalm 80:3-19; Numbers 6:25). In our prayer times, rather than focusing on our litany of needs, we can truly praise Him for who He is and all He has already done for us (Matthew 6:7-8, 6:32-33). We live by faith in His faithfulness.

We want God’s presence in our life more than anything He gives us or that we attain through our constant busyness. We seek Him, and find Him, when we search for Him with our whole heart and soul (Deuteronomy 4:29; Matthew 7:7). He loves those who love Him and who put Him first in our life (Jeremiah 29:13; Proverbs 8:17).

Prayer:

Father God, You created this world of ours, and everything in it is Yours. You are never far from anyone, and You loved us even while we were still unbelieving sinners (Psalm 17:27, 71:12; Acts 17:24-27). Remind us to seek You, so we can find You as well as the narrow gate and path of Your salvation (Luke 11:9). We persistently hunger and thirst after a deeper relationship with You (Psalm 42:1),

Thank You that You desire to provide for all our requests (Philippians 4:19). You supply our eternal, physical, mental, emotional, financial, and relational needs as we keep our focus on You and on Your holiness and will for our life (Matthew 6:31-32). You even give us the inheritance of Your Kingdom with our brother Jesus, who is our life and our co-heir (Colossians 3:3-4; Luke 12:32). We want to spend every moment of our life in Your presence.

Thoughts for the Day:

God sees us (Proverbs 15:3; Psalm 14:2, 33:18). He turns His face toward us, and He is in us and with each of us every moment of the day. He is never too busy to hear our prayers because if they are important to us, they are important to Him. Therefore, we seek His face continually so we can know Him more intimately and deeply hear Him constantly throughout our life (Psalm 24:5-6, 27:8, 105:4).
