God's Spirit Perfects Us

Black and White Butterfly on Red Flower

We cannot fully live, without Christ fully living within us. Paul realized this truth in his life (1 Corinthians 4:7). Jesus’ disciples knew the truth of this statement too (John 15:5).

Joseph exemplified Christ in him when he interpreted Pharaoh’s dreams (Genesis 41:16). Rebellious Jonah learned to trust the Lord, as the God of heaven who made the sea and earth (Jonah 1:9).

The faith chapter gives us a litany of people of faith and their works accomplished by obeying God's Spirit (Hebrews 11). Many of them were hesitant to step out into the deep water of God's will; but once they did, God accomplished big things through them.

They were not perfect by any means. In fact, God's Word honestly tells us their story, including their warts and all. God is not looking for a perfect people, but for people humble enough to allow His Spirit to work through them.

If we are drawn away from God by the lusts of our flesh, the influence of the world around us, or the lies and deception of the devil, we lose our benefits in this life and our rewards in eternity.

God's will and Spirit keep us on track and living fulfilled lives in this world, as we look forward to the hope within us when we shall receive heavenly rewards for our obedience.

God is always ready to listen to those who worship Him and who are willing to live in His will for their life (John 9:31). Blessed and happy is everyone who worships the Lord and walks in His ways (Psalm 128:1)

Prayer:
Father God, You are our God. We earnestly seek You, because our soul hungers and thirsts for You. Our body longs for You, because we are living in this dry and weary existence where there is no water except in Your presence. We look forward to living in eternity as Your servants in the paradise of the new heaven and the new earth.

King David saw You in Your sanctuary and beheld Your power and Your glory. He declared that Your love is better than life (Psalm 63:1-4). Our lips glorify You in tribute as long as we live, and in Your name we lift up our hands to You in praise.

Thought for the Day:
True disciples long for God more than life itself and seek His love and grace as we glorify Him in all that we think, say and do.
