Jesus
is our Good Shepherd, and He laid down His life for us (John 10:11-15). He
delivers us from evil and brings us safely to His heavenly Kingdom (2 Timothy
4:18). These facts give us the faith to sleep in peace (Psalm 4:8).
God
teaches us to have simple faith in His provision for us. Every good and perfect
gift that we receive comes from Him (James 1:17). Even our paycheck comes from
Him, not from our labors, because without Him we would have no job at all.
He
protects us by commanding His angels to watch over us; and they bear us up in
their hands, so that we do not even stub our toe. We labor in our work from
morning to evening, but how much of what we do are the works that God
preordained for us to accomplish? (Matthew 4:6; Exodus 23:20; Psalm 91:11-12,
104:23-24; Daniel 3:28, 6:22; Acts 5:19, 12:11).
We
learn to continually look to the Lord for His strength each moment of the day,
because we remember the wonders that He performed on our behalf during our
entire lifetime. He is our Lord and our God (Psalm 105:4-5). He protects us and
provides for all of our needs (Psalm 105:15).
We
praise our God, because He is so good, and we give thanks to Him for His
enduring love for us. We enjoy the prosperity in our soul that He showers on
His people, and we remember all of His kindnesses to us. He saves us from the
hand of our enemies and redeems us (Psalm 106:1,5,10).
We
do well to remember His blessings and His promises, and to wait for His plan to
unfold rather than depending on our human understanding and resources (Psalm
106:13,21). He always remembers His covenant with us, and out of His great love
He showers us with His blessings (Psalm 106:45).
Prayer:
Father
God, the earth and the sea teem with creatures beyond number - both large and
small, that You created. When I consider the whales frolicking in the oceans, I
am amazed at Your creativity (Psalm 104:24-26). All of these creatures look to
You to provide their food at the proper times and season. When You open Your
hand for them, they gather it up and are satisfied; yet when You hide Your face
from them, they are terrified because they are so dependent on Your supply
(Psalm 104:27-29).
May
we trust in You as well, always looking to You for our supply. We pray that the
subject of our thoughts are always pleasing to You as we rejoice in You (Psalm
104:33-34). When You touch the ground, it trembles in earthquakes; the
mountains erupt in volcanoes at Your touch. May Your glory endure forever and
may You always have cause to rejoice in Your works (Psalm 104:31). We will sing
praises to You all of our life.
Thought
for the Day:
We
give thanks to the Lord and make known, to anyone who will listen, what He does
for us on a daily basis; we glory in Him and our heart rejoices in Him, so we
sing and praise Him with songs that tell of His wondrous acts and His continual
provision for us.
