Old Testament prophets predicted the coming and life of Jesus, and the New Testament reveals the actual fulfillment of these prophecies. Here are a few examples of this:

1.  Jesus was rejected by His family as well as people who knew Him or heard about Him - Isaiah 53:3 = John 1:10-11, 12:37

2.  Jesus was betrayed by an apostle – Psalm 41:9 = Luke 22:47-48

3.  The bounty for Jesus’ life – Zechariah 11:12 = Matthew 26:14-15

4.  Jesus never defended Himself – Isaiah 53:7 = Matthew 26:6

5.  Soldiers gambled for Jesus’ clothing – Psalm 22:17-18 = Matthew 27:35

6.  They didn’t break Jesus’ bones as they usually did those who died on a cross – Psalm 34:20 = John 19:36

7.  Jesus felt forsaken by God when He bore the sins of the whole world – Psalm 22:1 = Matthew 27:45-50

8.  Jesus was buried in a rich man’s tomb – Isaiah 53:9 = Matthew 27:60

9.  Resurrection of Jesus – Psalm 16:10; Psalm 49:15

10.                Jesus’ scourging, trials, mocking and crucifixion –

Isaiah 50:6, 53:12; Psalm 22:7-8; Isaiah 53:12, Zechariah 9:9, 12:10,

There are over 300 Biblical prophecies pertaining to Jesus that came true during His lifetime. Those above are merely a few that relate to His last days on earth.

God’s Word is the only reliable source of truth ever written. Other religions have their sacred writings, but do not contain the supernatural link between prophecy and fulfillment like the Bible does. We also have the only authoritative leader who rose from the dead and appeared to many people for 40 days and nights before ascending into heaven (Acts 1:3).

We can take a gamble with our life and walk in accordance with other religions, but only Jesus guarantees us eternal, everlasting life. When converted Born Again Believers pass from this earthly body, we are immediately present with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8). His ways are perfect, and His judgment is merciful and compassionate (Psalm 18:30-36; Matthew 9:36, 14:14; Lamentations 3:22-23).

Prayer:

Father God, thank You that Your Holy Word is reliable, validates itself by the context of each verse, and verifies its truth by other verses that explain or build upon one another. We thank You that this wonderful book is verified by ancient documents and original manuscripts that archeologists discover. We are blessed by the spirit-led advice of the Biblical writers, as well as the words of Jesus recorded in its pages.

We thank You also that Your Holy Spirit abides within us, and He guides us in every decision we will ever need to make. Your Word also comforts us in our affliction, directs us each moment in the way in which we should traverse this earth, and gives us Your wisdom to use in planning our day. We give You the respect, honor, glory and praise that only You deserve.

Thoughts for the Day:

God’s truth sets us free, but worldly wisdom is limited and does not affect our eternal destination. Jesus is our only real source of the way in which we should walk, His truth is all we can really rely on, and His gift to us is His eternal life. His truth leads us and teaches us, because He is the only God of our salvation, and we can consult Him all day and night long. He never leaves or forsakes us, and never slumbers or sleeps.

- John 8:32, 14
