Due to Jesus willingness to submit His own will to that of our Heavenly Father, God put everything under His feet and made Jesus the ruler over the whole earth (Ephesians 1;20-23). He holds everything in the universe together or it would all wildly spin out of control (Colossians 1:17).
This concept gives me great peace because I know that the Trinity has everything in His power. I am delighted to rest assured that nothing can happen to me that the Godhead is not aware of and has a plan in everything for it to work out for my good (Romans 8:28).
Jesus, who is God the Son, is the representation of the Godhead in human form, and He was equal with God before Creation. He still is equal to God. He made it clear in His teaching that He and the Father are one (John 10:27-30). He also made a way for us to be one with Him and our Father God (John 17:21).
As a human being, Jesus submitted to the Father’s will (Luke 22:42), even to His plan for Jesus to take on the sin of the whole world (1 John 2:2; John 1:29). The most heartrending verse in the Bible for me was when God had to turn His back on His Son because of this sin of mankind. Our sinless brother and co-heir, Jesus, felt forsaken and alone (Matthew 27:46; Psalm 22:1).
Due to His sacrifice, we can even count a deadly illness as a joyful prospect because the Father is calling us home to heaven (Philippians 4:4-8; James 1:2-3). Our death is of greater joy to Him than our birth because we will then be in His physical presence for eternity (Ecclesiastes 7:1). He will even comfort our family after their loss and provide a new chapter for them in the center of His will for their life.
Seeing God’s eternal plan for Jesus as well as for us is a delightful concept that supplies us with abundant joy, peace, faith, and strength to face another day. We walk in confidence in God’s will for us. We find comfort under the shadow of His wings (Psalm 91:1-4). He is our all in all.
Prayer:
Father God, thank You for writing Your laws on our heart so we do not sin against You, which breaks Your heart (Hebrews 10:16-26). We do not view Your principles as restrictive, but protective; and we really appreciate You for providing them, as well as such great comfort for us in Your Word. Thank You also when we experience negative events in our life, because we experience first-hand Your provision and faithfulness through it all.
Your precepts teach us to live, move, and have our being totally in Christ (Acts 17:28). We rely on You more each time we experience new issues. Your protection, provision, and presence in our life saves us from negative emotions and thoughts, as well as satanic lies. Our struggles teach us to trust in You alone and not to put undue expectations on our self or others. You are our great King, our Salvation, our Redeemer, and our Refuge in all areas of our life.
Thoughts for the Day:
Jesus took the sting out of death for every authentic Believer (1 Corinthians 15:55-57). His friends and family laid His body in the borrowed tomb (Matthew 27:60), but His spirit and soul were immediately transported to Heaven where He received His immortal body (2 Corinthians 5:8). Then, He walked on the earth for 40 days before returning to His throne in Heaven - appearing to innumerable people who were eye witnesses of His resurrection from the dead.
